Where does the trail come from?

It was difficult to walk with so much material dragging along the floor, so the pages followed the ladies! Thus, from afar, by the number of pages and the length of the train, one could recognize who was approaching - the princess and the court lady.
The fashion for trains has not bypassed Russia either. At the court of Elizabeth Petrovna, ladies' dresses were decorated with a train fastened to the shoulders; more than fifty pages carried the train behind Catherine the Second during the coronation, and Empress Maria Pavlovna danced at the ball, throwing the train over her hand.
In Russia, wearing a train or train was also strictly regulated, not only by the position of the lady, but also by her age! Students of the Institute of Noble Maidens were only allowed to wear a dress with a train at the prom, and at the beginning of the 19th century, only married ladies were allowed to wear a train.
