In our series of articles about wedding color schemes, it’s time to tell you about a color that cannot leave a single person on earth indifferent, which is simply created for such an amazing and beautiful event as a wedding. It is refined and noble, the color of aristocrats and monarchs – emerald. YesYes will tell you everything about the emerald wedding. She will help with the design of the banquet hall, with choosing the shade of the bride’s dress and with floristry for a wedding in emerald color. This holiday will make a splash!
Dresses of the bride and groom in emerald color
When choosing outfits for your emerald wedding celebration, be original. Experiment with accessories, make interesting accents in clothes, reveal your individuality in all possible ways. There are two scenarios for choosing wedding dresses:
- fully clothed in green robes;
- make green an elegant setting for classic outfits.
An emerald-colored bride's dress will be a bold and memorable experiment. If this is not required, but you want to make an impression, limit yourself to individual details of the chosen color. The bright green petticoat, which is visible only when moving, looks amazing. Belts, embroidery, shoes, garters, inserts in the corset or bodice area, made in a noble shade of green, are allowed.
The groom is recommended to choose an emerald shirt, tie, cufflinks, vest, and muffler. Such small accents will transform the outfit and make it in the spirit of the wedding color scheme. However, you can opt for a suit in a sophisticated green shade if it suits your type of newlywed well. Then the accessories will remain in more restrained tones that will not attract the views of admiring friends.

Dress code for guests
It's hard to get wedding guests to wear emerald, but it's not necessary. Witnesses dressed in outfits of the appropriate color look more impressive. It is fashionable for girlfriends and boyfriends to create identical dresses and suits that they will wear when going to the wedding. This is a Western tradition, which looks very impressive in our country due to its uniqueness and non-standardity.
If your budget allows, sew special emerald outfits for your witnesses. The formal part and photo session with such guests will look very cool and will be remembered by everyone. Girlfriends' dresses can be of different styles, but of the same color, but there are also completely identical outfits. Suits for groomsmen do not have to be green. Enough with a jacket that goes well with white, black, and dark blue trousers.
A-line dress
The clean lines and classic silhouette of such a wedding dress will be relevant at all times. For all its femininity and tenderness, the A-shape looks quite simple. An asymmetrical, complex or very large bouquet will simply outshine your wedding dress.
Florists advise choosing a medium-sized round bouquet for an A-line silhouette, preferably from flowers of the same type, slightly diluted with greenery or without it at all. A flower arrangement in the shape of a ball is also a wedding classic. The bouquet will gently emphasize the harmonious image of the bride and will not distract everyone’s attention from her dress, elegant in its simplicity.

Emerald wedding design ideas
To hold a wedding in emerald color you will need attention to detail, a sense of style, a love of luxury and subtle taste. It is important to put together a complete picture of the future celebration in your mind in order to use this noble shade in the right doses. Start with the most insignificant components of the wedding: invitations, bonbonnieres, decorative accessories. Then switch to more significant elements - table setting, photo shoot area, hall decor.
Invitations for guests
If, in addition to the color style of the wedding, there is another thematic one, play with it in the invitations. A celebration in the style of the Emerald City, for example, will add a magical touch to your cards. Stick to the aristocratic style; it perfectly emphasizes the nobility of the main wedding color. Let the invitations use intricate script, classic patterns, and beautiful capital text.
You can decorate cards with emerald ribbons, stones, and sequins. Let your guests feel its luxury, elegance, and positive energy even before attending the wedding. Be careful with your decor, though, as it's easy to go overboard by over-decorating your invitations into a shocking emerald-colored frenzy.
Banquet hall decoration
An emerald banquet requires an expensive interior. The hall should be in natural colors that harmonize well with deep green. White, sand, wood shades are suitable. It is not necessary to completely drape the walls with green curtains, since it will be too much. It’s better to focus on individual elements that will become laconic accents.
Choose emerald chair covers, bows or ribbons to decorate the ceremony walkway, flower vases, balloons, paper pom-poms, carpeting. This is enough for the wedding to sparkle with the richness of the main shade of the celebration. Decorate the area for photo wishes, lighting on the dance floor, and the dessert and cocktail part of the hall in deep green. Let individual moments set the mood for the celebration.
Holiday table decor
A wedding in emerald color is created with accents. One of them is the festive table setting, which sets off the banquet table. Choose green napkins, glasses, tablecloths, candlesticks, stylized cups, plates. Limes, grapes, and apples would be appropriate on such a table; they will complement the decor well with their green sheen. Placers of emerald stones, beads, paper figures look great, harmoniously placed between cutlery, dishes and dishes.
The bride's bouquet
For floristry for an emerald wedding, a modest white color is amazing. It will subtly highlight the color scheme of the celebration and elegantly complement the bride's attire. Decorate small roses from a round bouquet with bright green brooches, large stones or beads. The stems of flowers wrapped in emerald ribbons and decorated with white pearls or a bow look stylish.
When preparing for a wedding in cold weather, stop at orchids, anemones, roses, and ranunculus. The spring-summer celebration is an occasion to pamper yourself with hydrangeas, freesia, lilies of the valley, peonies, dahlias, and alstroemeria. Opt for low, medium-sized bouquets that look elegant, restrained, and laconic, since an emerald wedding does not tolerate anything excessive.
A wedding cake
Let famous confectioners create the main dessert of the celebration. Order emerald cake decor to make it the crowning glory of your wedding. Frosting, cream, green fruits look great on white baked goods; this combination of tones will be the most successful. You can choose an all-green cake with decorations in a contrasting shade or no decorations at all. Serve the dessert surrounded by emerald stones to resemble a piece of jewelry.
General recommendations
When composing a bouquet for a bride who chooses a classic wedding dress, white peonies are often used. To keep them from blending in with the main background, add bright red accents or include pink buds in the bouquet. Do not use white bouquets if the bride is wearing a cream or champagne dress. An outfit in ivory, ivory, with a silver or golden tint allows the use of mono-bouquets of white peonies.
In order not to disturb the harmony in the images of the newlyweds, peonies are also included in the composition of the groom's boutonniere. It is difficult to keep track of the safety of the accessory, so prepare a backup option in advance if the previous one becomes unusable.
If you purchase a ready-made bouquet, you should order it 2-3 days before the special event. Choose buds that have opened a little, but have not completely blossomed. Otherwise, they may not “survive” to the end of the event.
If the bride wants to appear before the guests with a bouquet of tight, dense buds, you should know that this shape is maintained for 5-7 hours at a temperature of +20-25 degrees. By evening, the shape of the bouquet may change. When choosing a variety, consider the air temperature indoors or outdoors and the duration of the wedding event. An interesting option is a contrasting combination of closed and open buds in a bouquet.
Wedding floristry professionals recommend “hardening” the bouquet daily by placing it in cold water - this way it can last longer. The day before the wedding, it is better not to place flowers in a warm place, leaving the bouquet in the refrigerator. Humidity is detrimental to a bouquet of peonies.
Wedding accessories for an emerald wedding
The mood for a successful celebration is set by cute little things, take this into account when creating your wedding script. Let the rings be served to the newlyweds on an emerald pillow, a bouquet of rich balloons of a suitable shade awaits at the photo shoot, and candies on the tables are displayed in bright wrappers. Bonbonnieres, menus, guest cards, gift souvenirs, waiters' bows, the presenter's microphone, and the newlyweds' podium lighting can be emerald.
Peacock feathers look very fresh, adding exoticism and luxury to an emerald wedding. Decorate your bouquet, hairstyle, tables, shoes, glasses with them. Choose candles, cups, and music stands that match the musicians’ notes – surprise your guests with thoughtfulness and attentiveness. Let them be asked to write a congratulatory note for the wedding book in green ink, take a photo with a green parrot, or try on a mask shimmering with emeralds, then they will remember the celebration forever.
Images of the young
Bride
The girl’s outfit should be made from some kind of natural fabric, for example, silk, linen or cotton. As for the style, a light, airy, flowy dress or sundress, straight cut or A-line, will best fit into the eco-theme.
The main goal of the style in question is to make the look more natural, laconic and relaxed, so corsets, trains, sequins and tight styles are definitely not suitable here. At most, the outfit can be decorated with lace inserts.
Advice. In cool weather, complement the look with a stole or shawl.
It is not necessary to chase the color white, because for an eco-celebration it is appropriate to choose some natural shade: olive, beige, light blue, gray and so on.
Replace jewelry with natural materials, for example, jewelry made of wood, stone or wool. Decorate your hair not with the usual tiara, but with a wreath of greenery, combined with a small amount of flowers; natural makeup is encouraged. And for making a wedding bouquet, wildflowers, various ornamental grasses, dried flowers, twigs, pine cones and succulents are quite suitable.
Groom
As for the groom’s style, here, too, the image should be as informal and light as possible, which means that instead of a strict black suit, you should opt for something simpler. It can be a linen, wool or cotton suit, because as we remember, we need only natural materials. Or the jacket can be replaced with a vest, and the look can be complemented with suspenders, a hat and wooden cufflinks.
Light and natural tones are relevant as colors for a masculine look.
Combinations of emerald with other colors
When planning the color scheme, remember the compatibility of shades. Mix several shades to make it as natural and cozy as possible. Don’t let any one additional tone draw attention; the emerald should always remain in the center. Noble emerald looks good with the following tones:
- blue,
- golden,
- white,
- silver,
- orange,
- pink,
- mint,
- chocolate,
- yellow.
Ideal palette
What is good about green is its compatibility with any other colors. Look at the variety of shades of plant buds and fruits. They all harmonize wonderfully with their leaves and stems. Also in decor, green can be both a leading note and a wonderful frame for bright or pastel paint.
If you don’t want to leave traditions, but your soul craves bright touches, then a combination of green and classic white will suit you. This is a very spring option, fresh and joyful. Embroidery in the form of emerald bindweed on a white wedding dress, splashes of grassy lace and satin ribbons on the tablecloth, white and green balls will enliven the celebration, while remaining within the framework of the classics.
For an autumn wedding, when everything is completely dark gray, there is nothing better than green and yellow. Sunny, bright and positive - this choice will bring a piece of summer back into the holiday.
Green and blue will create a unique seaside flavor and will look great on a golden beach. This is a very calm and deep combination, suitable for mature, serious people who know what they want and always achieve their goals.
The traditional Christmas combination of green and red will fit seamlessly into a wedding celebration, the main thing is to carefully select the shades. It is better to give preference to cold tones. This is a very elegant and cheerful option that demonstrates abundance and fertility.
The combination of green and gold will suit delicate aristocratic natures who love luxury. Such a wedding will be remembered by guests as an example of style. If you replace gold with silver, you get an interesting and elegant combination, more strict and graceful.
Mint (or other light and pastel green) with pink is probably one of the most delicate combinations, looking especially harmonious at a vintage-style wedding. Such a celebration will turn out to be pastoral, light and happy.
An abundance of bright colors does not always benefit the overall picture. Remember to have a sense of proportion! It is better to choose 2-3 similar shades or the same number of pure colors. This is enough to make the wedding bright and at the same time elegant.
Video: holding an emerald wedding
Watch in the video below how elegant a wedding looks in emerald tones. Scatterings of flowers, strings of beads, airy draperies create harmony, a warm mood, and a bright atmosphere. Young people use the main color to decorate outdoor ceremonies and banquets, outfits and accessories. The delicate combination of emerald, pink and white looks very juicy, tasty and pleasant. The chosen place for celebrating the emerald wedding was modern, which in no way detracts from the nobility of this aristocratic shade, which many associate with monarchs.
Delicate creamy
Flower buds in a “cream” shade are universal and inherently match almost any holiday color.
Such inflorescences look especially good when the dress fabric is chosen from a rich palette. This composition stands out perfectly against the background of matter and creates a contrast with it, attracting attention. And this is the most important thing in a wedding bouquet. A cream bouquet is not created for quiet weddings, otherwise it will be lost in the surrounding design.
This color is suitable for bright celebrations, when the bride’s image needs to be given more tenderness.
Cream-colored flowers:
In addition, you can use flowers in beige shades, some of which are replaced with white buds. Then it will seem that the whole bouquet is creamy.
But no matter what colors were chosen, for such a delicate composition a number of rules must be followed.
It is necessary to monitor the shape; it should be round, straight or cascading, and it is desirable to have drop-down elements.
But if this is a mono-bouquet of dense rose buds, then you should choose an asymmetrical-looking composition with a lot of greenery. Or create a bouquet in the Biedermeier form - when all the flowers are placed close to each other, and there are practically no gaps between them.
Themed wedding photo shoot
An emerald wedding requires original ideas for photo shoots. Here are some interesting options:
- The Wizard of Oz. You will need fabulous accessories, fantastic surroundings, a non-standard background or landscape.
- Medieval romance. It involves filming against the backdrop of an ancient castle, well-groomed alleys, gardens and flower beds, in carriages, on horseback, in a boat on the lake.
- Flying surprise. Stock up on emerald balloons inflated with helium, let it all set off the blue sky. Add a cheerful mood and enthusiasm.
- Friendly company. We only need guests in emerald suits, providing a positive atmosphere to every shot.
Symbolism
The origins of the mint palette lie in the combination of soft blue and green, with the latter predominating. Despite the name, mint has little in common with the beloved spice, because mint leaves have a rich, bright green color. Mint color is paler, more feminine, it symbolizes peace and serenity, harmony and inner peace.
Deep symbolism is hidden in the constituent shades of mint color, which gives rise to a rich palette of feelings and emotions:
- Blue means talent, creativity, originality of thinking;
- In green, psychologists and artists see the color of development, self-improvement, vitality and joy;
- White, without which that same mint tenderness is impossible, symbolizes purity and peace in the soul, truth and nobility.

Master class on creating a green bouquet
In order to assemble an emerald-colored composition in a naturalistic rustic style. We take:
- 4 branches of white eustoma;
- 3 sprigs of green eustoma;
- 8 “Barbie green trick” carnations;
- 4 branches of trachelium;
- 5 white freesias;
- 3 sprigs of green hypericum;
- 5 sprigs of nigella;
- 3 sprigs of small cloves;
- twine;
- a piece of burlap;
- light green decorative tape;
- pruner;
- scissors.
Instructions on how to assemble a bride's bouquet with your own hands with step-by-step photos:
Let's first prepare the plant branches: remove the foliage, cut the branches into manageable pieces with pruning shears, leaving one top element. We assemble using spiral technology. We place each new stem at an acute angle to the previous ones, constantly observing the chosen direction. We combine buds with greenery to form a round composition. We place some branches higher than others to create a slightly disheveled look.
We fill the gaps in the composition with small clove buds, pushing them through the top.
We put the two together with a ribbon, make a loop, thread the ends into a ring and tie the leg. We trim the excess ends of the ribbon with scissors, very close to the knot, so that nothing hangs down.
After the first bunch, we correct the plants, adding more if necessary. Cut off the excess length of the stems with pruning shears. We try to cut each stem at an angle; this will prolong the life of the flowers, because this way they are saturated with water through the maximum cut area.
We unravel threads along the edges of the burlap, making a fringe. Apply to the stems and wrap. We secure the burlap with three pieces of twine. You can use one long piece of twine and then tie it into a bow. If the length of the stems seems excessive, repeat the pruning. We aim for the stems to protrude 3-4 cm below the burlap decorating the leg.
Which style and image should you choose?
Bridal outfits
If emerald shades suit the bride and groom, then the wedding dress can be sewn from richly colored fabric - this will be a truly royal choice. Materials such as satin, velvet, delicate lace and silk, airy fabrics and natural cotton are perfect.
- You can choose any dress model - with an open back and shoulders, floor-length and asymmetrical dresses, fluffy skirts with corsets, and loose tunics, modern models that emphasize the dignity of the figure, diverging from the knees with cascading folds.
- For a classic bride's look, it is enough to complement the outfit in light colors with jewelry and accessories in emerald shades, embroidery, appliqués, and lace.
- The happy groom also has a wide choice of colors - from classic black, dark gray and steel to cornflower blue, gray and emerald. Various combinations are acceptable, for example, black trousers with a green or cornflower blue jacket, sand and golden shades.
- For a scripted wedding, costumes are chosen in accordance with the chosen roles. Here everything depends solely on the imagination and personal preferences of the newlyweds.
- Hairstyle and head decorations should support the image of the bride. Depending on the style of clothing and the role played, it could be a veil or a floral wreath, an elegant hoop, beads and chains, hairpins or a flirty hat. A princess or queen needs a crown or tiara, and a forest fairy needs beautiful floral decorations.
- Costume jewelry or jewelry should be chosen in green and turquoise shades - diamonds, sapphires and beryls, aquamarine and chrysoprase, demantoid and tsavorite, green topaz and corundum, emerald and malachite, jasper, chrysolite and uvarovite, diopal and jadeite. White, pearl and transparent precious and semi-precious stones, mother of pearl, pearls, and rhinestones are suitable.
- For an emerald wedding, a bouquet can be made from any flowers, because they all have green stems. The main rule is compatibility with the chosen style and surrounding design. Most often, roses, lilies of the valley and tulips, lilies and orchids, and any wildflowers are used for a color wedding. The groom's boutonniere and flower head decorations should be in the same style as the bride's bouquet.
The groom can accessorize his outfit with a graceful cane, bow tie, hat or cap. Stylish cufflinks look great, and a lush neckerchief with a large brooch is suitable for an ancient costume.
Guest outfits
There are a number of rules for guests at a colored wedding.
- First and foremost - at least part of the clothing or accessories should contain the main emerald shade.
- Under no circumstances should bridesmaids repeat the style and color of her clothes. On the contrary, playing with contrasts will be more expressive. The groom's friends should also be radically different from the “first gentleman” at this holiday. It is best to choose the same suits in neutral colors - sand, gray, black, gold, cornflower blue, with the obligatory emerald accents.
To be sure that all those invited to the holiday comply with the chosen scenario, you can organize a centralized distribution of accessories for everyone: scarves and ties, hats and scarves, bracelets and capes.

Leg decoration
The leg is given no less attention than the leaves and flowers. Green legs add even more emerald shades to the bouquet. That is why they do not need to be hidden, but should be emphasized in every possible way. This can be done using ribbons and green decorative ornaments. The choice of accessories depends on the overall style of the celebration. For a bouquet of field daisies and grass, an ordinary synthetic ribbon is enough.
If a luxurious holiday is planned with a limousine, a photographer, an expensive restaurant and high-ranking guests, the materials should be more expensive: satin, brocade, velvet. You can decorate the leg with green plastic stones that imitate emeralds.
In its luxury and solemnity, an emerald wedding is in no way inferior to a classic holiday. In order for the most important day in the life of people who love each other to be remembered forever, it is necessary to think through every detail, including the bouquet.
Script ideas
One of the options for developing a cultural program and scenario for an emerald wedding is to contact an event agency. Another is to come up with everything using your own imagination or involve your best friends and creative relatives as assistants.
We offer some original ideas for inspiration:
- Celebration in the style of the Wizard in the Emerald City. The main characters of the fairy tale are taken as a basis. The bride and groom wear stylized outfits by Goodwin and Ellie. Guests are invited to take part in fun competitions where the prizes are intelligence, courage or heart;
- Wedding in the style of the Middle Ages. This option is suitable for those who read the novels of Walter Scott as a child, and now love stories about beautiful ladies, knightly battles and the Crusades. Vintage furniture, wooden dishes, unusually cut clothes in emerald tones, invitations in the form of scrolls and an original menu, which should include a spit-roasted pig, will help create the atmosphere of the Middle Ages;
- For the carnival ceremony, the brightest shades of emerald and unusual color schemes are selected. To feel the atmosphere of the Venetian carnival, they use carnival masks and unusual costumes of an original cut. The main range is green in combination with gold and red, additional shades of pink, cherry, ocher, chocolate, blue;
Emerald fairy tale. Decoration of the ceremony in the style of Bazhov’s fairy tale “The Malachite Box”. A thematic scenario, costumes of the newlyweds and suitable accessories will help recreate the atmosphere of magic;
Winter's Tale. The decor is based on a combination of white, silver and gold. The hall is decorated with Christmas tree wreaths, paper snowflakes, and garlands. It would be great if you could order artificial emerald snow;
Irish style. At such a wedding, bright decoration in emerald green tones is combined with folk dances, cheerful music and a general mood of jubilation;
Wedding in Scandinavian style. This option is characterized by the use of natural materials in decoration: stone, wood, moss. Beige and gray are chosen as the main color, and emerald is used for bright accents;
Forest ceremony. The perfect forest-themed wedding takes place in nature
The edge of a forest, a camp site in a pine forest or a city park – the location doesn’t matter. The main thing is to create an atmosphere of calm and unity with nature
The images of the young people and guests must correspond to the general style.
Advice! The optimal solution for the above scenarios is an outdoor ceremony. It is carried out in the fresh air, which makes it possible to express creative abilities to the fullest.
