Why do you need a bridal bouquet understudy and how to make it yourself - step-by-step master classes

While preparing for the wedding of one of their friends, all the girls are looking forward to this very day: to be happy for their friend, and, of course, that wonderful moment when the bride throws her bouquet into the crowd of unmarried friends.

And not in vain, because according to legend, the girl who catches him will soon get married next year.

But there is also a belief that in order to maintain happiness in marriage, the bride should keep her wedding bouquet. What should we do?

This is where an understudy bridal bouquet comes to the rescue. Why do you need a duplicate bouquet? In order to circumvent the contradiction in beliefs and make one of the friends happy.

In this article we will tell you how to make a wedding bouquet with your own hands. So, your bouquet will be unique in its kind and will delight both you and your guests with its beauty. But let's look at everything in order and then move on to our master class on creating a wedding bouquet for an understudy

Why do you need a duplicate for a wedding?

A bride's bouquet is not only a beautiful accessory, but also a symbol of a beginning happy life, a talisman of family well-being. There is a belief that if you dry wedding flowers, they will protect the house, the couple and the children that appear for a long time.
But even without superstitions, a flower arrangement means a lot to a bride, because choosing it is no easier than choosing a dress, makeup and hairstyle.
Specific names of colors, decor, shades, the smallest details - everything that makes up a complete ensemble requires imagination, effort and money. This means giving it to even your most beloved girlfriend is quite difficult. Important! If flowers have a strong aroma, then constant presence of them can cause headaches.
If you don’t want to suffer from migraines, make a duplicate bouquet. Meanwhile, the tradition of throwing a bouquet at the end of the wedding, which allows you to find out which lucky girl will walk down the aisle next, is not something that brides are ready to give up. How to be? You can, of course, take the bouquet from the girlfriend who caught it, leaving one flower for luck. Another option is to throw in a specially made accessory, then the girl will keep it as a memory, but the tradition of keeping the main bride’s bouquet will also be respected.

Situations when you can’t do without a backup bouquet:

  • the main composition is very heavy , for example, a large bouquet with a porta bouquet - not every girl can throw about 5-7 kg, as well as catch them without injury;
  • a winter ceremony is planned - even the most resilient plants will not feel too good by the end of the holiday;
  • the main bouquet is made up of lilies, peonies, and other buds with fragile petals that simply cannot withstand being thrown;
  • the wedding is held in Art Nouveau style, and the bouquet contains iron or other sharp decorative elements.

New Year's bouquet of soap roses

Even a simple composition of soap, made with your own hands, will become an original idea for New Year's gifts. Select a red or blue color for the box to accommodate the floral theme, decorate it with sparkles or snowflakes, and paste them with prints of the appropriate theme.

In order for the roses in a New Year's bouquet to look unique and natural, they should not be the same tone as the box. Soap roses in the winter variation can be complemented with cones, fir branches, and bright beads. To create a unique holiday aroma when making roses, add 3-5 drops of fir oil per 100 grams of base.

Kinds

The second bouquet does not have to repeat the bride’s main accessory one to one, but if you wish, you can do so. This will give you the opportunity to take interesting photos in the company of the girlfriend who caught him.

More often than not, an exact copy is not made, because the understudy is first and foremost an assistant and should play a supporting role for the soloist. An excellent option is a smaller copy, consisting of smaller, but similar in shape flowers. For example, ordinary roses in the bride’s bouquet and bush roses in the backup, as well as lilies and alstroemerias, gerberas and daisies, peonies and eustoma. It is recommended to maintain the same color scheme so that the understudy does not stand out from the overall picture of the wedding.

Usually, if the second composition is also made from fresh flowers, then the bride creates it herself, without the help of florists. This adds warmth to the wish for a speedy wedding to the girlfriend who caught the bouquet.

A wonderful solution would be to create a double from artificial materials - foamiran, fabric, ribbons, paper, beads.

The main advantages of the dummy:

  • durability, because it can be stored for decades;
  • Weight is no less important - throwing such a bouquet is easy;
  • It is absolutely impossible to harm anyone with them (the exception is the heavy version of textured brooches).

Artificial flowers are easy to purchase in specialized stores, but it is much more interesting and enjoyable to create buds yourself. Handmade things are very valuable, including because the craftswoman puts her love and good wishes into them. If the theme of the wedding and the bride’s level of handicraft skills allow it, then it is permissible to create a completely unusual ensemble - from soft toys, sweets, feathers, buttons.

Idea! Flowers felted from felt look charming. Your girlfriend and guests will definitely be delighted with the fluffy and quivering flowers filled with feline tenderness

Variety of ideas

A traditional bouquet of fragrant buds will never lose its appeal as a wedding decoration. However, a number of disadvantages of living plants overshadow the holiday:

  • in hot weather they quickly wither and deteriorate in the cold;
  • are expensive;
  • are saved only in the photo.

Therefore, sets of fabric flowers are becoming more and more popular. Brides, along with the usual natural one, purchase a decorative duplicate bouquet. The young wife throws a bunch of fresh flowers to her girlfriends, and keeps an alternative option for herself as a souvenir. The candy bouquet looks interesting. In this case, plants are used both live and homemade.

How to do it yourself?

First, decide what exactly you want to make the double from. Fresh flowers, beads, ribbons, soft toys? Next, purchase all the necessary materials, preferably with a reserve, in case something goes wrong. It is wise to set aside more time for making the second bouquet, because creativity cannot be rushed. It is also worth practicing in advance if you choose an unfamiliar technique.

Necessary materials

For bouquets of fresh flowers you will need:

  • floral wire and cutters for it;
  • sharp knife or pruning shears;
  • various decor - ribbons, lace, pendants, rhinestones;
  • scissors and glue;
  • flowers, primary or secondary, for example, gypsophila, fern leaves.

For artificial compositions most often required:

  • base - foam ball, polyurethane foam, old newspapers wrapped with twine;
  • leg - plastic tube, glued sushi sticks, cardboard foil tube;
  • ribbons, pieces of fabric, felt, candies - what, in fact, you will create flowers from;
  • a variety of decor - from rhinestones to bows;
  • glue gun;
  • needle and thread;
  • scissors.

Step-by-step instructions with video

When everything is ready, you can start creating the composition. Remember that a duplicate bouquet is an opportunity to show your creativity, but do not forget about its functionality. The composition should be light, durable, non-deformable and durable.

Artificial flower dummy

We will need fabric flowers in two shades, matching satin cord, tulle, beads, wire, electrical tape, scissors, lace, satin ribbons.

  1. We create the beginning of a bouquet of three flowers of the brightest shade - to do this, grab the stems with electrical tape 5 cm from the base of the buds;
  2. Carefully wrap the wire with satin ribbons and bend it into loops. This is a decor on which you can string beads, pendants, rhinestones and bows. Place them on the edges of the core;
  3. Add the remaining flowers , darker ones - closer to the center, light ones - at the edges. Don’t forget to secure it with electrical tape to make the composition as strong as possible;
  4. We wrap the leg with tulle , carefully covering the place where the stems are attached. A good solution is to add a “skirt” made of the same material. For greater reliability, it is worth stitching the fabric with threads;
  5. We add decor - lace, beads and rhinestones both on the leg and on the buds themselves.

From fresh flowers

Fresh flowers, despite their demanding nature, remain a classic option for wedding bouquets, including stand-ins.

Important! Be sure to choose the freshest and hardiest flowers possible, because a caught bouquet is simply bound to please your girlfriend for at least a week after the holiday.

It is best to make the composition small, because throwing, and even more so accurately catching cascades is much more difficult. Refuse porta bouquet and complex forms in the form of glamelia, fan, pomander. Firstly, they are quite difficult to make yourself, unless you are into floristry, and secondly, such bouquets are fragile and are unlikely to survive a throw.

What remains? The round shape with a stem is a time-tested classic, as well as a ruffled or bouquet on its stems. Any of their options is acceptable, so be guided by your own taste and the stems of the plants - if they are straight, then you can do without the stem.

What do we need? Five roses of the required shade, three sprigs of white gypsophila, a sharp knife, floral wire, satin ribbon, glue, rhinestones.

  1. The first step is to process the stems - cut about 5 cm at an angle and place the flowers in water for some time in a dark, cool place without drafts. You should also remove all leaves and thorns. Remember that cutting plants must be done with a sharp knife or pruning shears. Scissors will not work. The water should be at room temperature, and it is better to dissolve an aspirin tablet and sugar in it;
  2. Start making your bouquet the morning before your wedding. Arrange the roses in a spiral, so that the buds create a circle and the stems create a more or less even stem. Distribute gypsophila along the edges;
  3. Step back 5 cm from the base of the flowers and secure the place with floral wire . Now move the wire down in a spiral a few turns. The leg should be about 20 cm. Cut off everything below;
  4. We cover the wire with a satin ribbon , tie the free ends into a bow, leave them hanging freely or curl them with scissors. Glue rhinestones onto the resulting canvas.

From satin ribbons

It is easiest to work with satin ribbons. They keep their shape perfectly, do not collect dust and are very affordable. If desired, use guipure, organza, velvet, original cotton or raw linen.

We will need:

  • wide satin ribbon of the desired shade;
  • scissors;
  • tweezers;
  • glue gun;
  • foam ball;
  • cardboard tube;
  • lighter;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • wooden skewers according to the size of the tube;
  • textile;
  • rhinestones and lace for decoration.

Sequence of work:

  1. Cut the ribbon into rectangles 5 by 11 cm. One rose will need 8 pieces. Don't forget to burn all the cuts with a lighter;
  2. Turn the rectangles over with the wrong side and fold the top part 0.5 cm. Take the right part and bend the corner inward. Now bend the resulting sharp corner and grab it in the middle with tweezers;
  3. Cut off the outer part and, continuing to hold it with tongs, burn it with a lighter - the satin will melt, creating a single composition;
  4. Repeat the same on the other side of the rectangle. Done - you have a petal that is very similar to natural;
  5. Wrap the first petal, which will become the core, in a tube , securing it with glue. Wrap the remaining petals around;
  6. When the roses are ready, use a glue gun to attach them to the pre-finished foam ball;

Advice! Cut off a little less than half from the ball and use most of it for the base.

  1. Glue the leg - for additional fixation, you can pass small skewers through the tube and stick them into the base. Cover the end of the tube with foam;
  2. Now all that remains is to decorate the leg with fabric or satin ribbon. Add rhinestones, pearls or lace if desired.

Necessary materials

South Korea is considered the birthplace of soap bouquets, but eastern floristry masters carefully keep the secret of their patented technology. Special machines are used to produce flowers from soap, and the bouquets are assembled by hand. Even without delving into Korean secrets, novice florists can make roses from soap.

What you need for creativity at home:

  • 200 g of baby soap will be the soap base for work;
  • 7-8 tablespoons of water are needed to dissolve the soap;
  • 1 tbsp. A spoonful of glycerin is enough to make the base flexible.

The selection and dosage of auxiliary components (dyes, flavors, glitter, etc.) will be dictated by your imagination. Also add to the basic set a smooth knife with a wide blade, a flat baking sheet, and a package of wooden skewers or plastic sticks.

On a note. The creative process of medium complexity is especially popular with children and brings pleasure to adults. Soap roses can be used to decorate the bathroom and used for washing.

Everyone knows that at a wedding the bride throws a bouquet to her friends. As a rule, it is the understudy bouquet that takes part in this mission. For example, like the one in the photo below:

How to fill a box or basket for a bouquet

The options are different. I tried many and settled on polystyrene foam. It is available - they throw away a lot of packaging from equipment. It is not difficult to cut out the desired shape around the perimeter of the basket.

Construction foam has also proven itself well, but it takes time to dry.

If you don’t have anything described above at hand, then use crumpled newspapers , “grabbing them in several places with tape. Do not cover it completely with tape - it will be very difficult to pierce it later!

I sometimes use corrugated cardboard It is difficult to pierce, so it is harder to work with than with foam or polystyrene foam.

So, let's start creating a bouquet.

Fashionable wedding bouquets 2020-2021 - succulents, berries, fruits

Fashionable wedding bouquets 2020 will also be at the peak of popularity (see photos for new items), collected from all kinds of fruits, berries and succulents. Such bouquets do not need a lot of moisture, and therefore they will perfectly withstand the entire wedding day and not lose their freshness and beauty. The main criterion for choosing berries and fruits for a wedding bouquet is seasonality. Depending on the time of year and the fruits it produces, it is worth choosing the design of the bouquet and the wedding as a whole.

What should you consider when choosing a wedding bouquet?

When arranging flowers, it is important to know about the rules of florists. So, let's start in order:

  • Each color in the bouquet is symbolic and has a specific meaning. Red roses speak of passion, white ones emphasize innocence and purity, and purple ones highlight joyful moments.
  • All flowers in the arrangement must be fresh. You need to choose dense buds, with healthy foliage and strong stems.
  • The bouquet should not be oversaturated. It is better not to use more than three types of flowers.

  • For a traditional dress with a full skirt, you should choose a small bouquet. If the outfit contains a large number of decorations, then the floral arrangement should contain massive elements. The color palette of the event and the bouquet should be combined. All decorative details should emphasize the theme of the wedding event. The larger the dress, the smaller the bouquet.

Advice! The bouquet should be selected last, when the wedding dress and other details are ready.
