Russia

According to Russian tradition, the wedding lasted three days: the first day was the wedding, the second day was a reception at the groom's house, the third day was lunch at the house of the mother-in-law and father-in-law. Before leaving for the crown, the ritual of vaults usually took place. Vaults are a symbolic union of the bride and groom accompanied by special songs in the middle of the hut or in the yard. The friend or matchmaker brought the bride and groom to each other and joined their hands or tied them with a towel (scarf). The bride and groom walked around in a circle three times. After the wedding, the newlyweds are greeted at the doorstep of the house by their parents with bread and salt. After welcoming speeches, the young people bite or pinch off bread, dip it in salt and eat. They believe that whoever bites off the most is the owner.

The wedding party is fun, wide and delicious. The table, covered with an embroidered tablecloth, is bursting with a variety of dishes from Russian cuisine. Cold appetizers are served (pickles, jelly), hot appetizers - pig, goose, and chicken pie is prepared. In the center of the table is a loaf. Drinks include kvass, mash, vodka. The newlyweds not only received gifts from the guests, but also gave gifts to each other, as well as their parents. The gifts were embroidered shirts, towels and other outfits. Wedding dresses in Rus' were not white, but red: a red shirt for the groom, a sundress for the bride.

Scotland

In this country, everything is unusual, from the national symbol (the thistle) to men's clothing and musical instruments. The Scottish national wedding dress also looks very original: it is a kilt (national skirt), reminiscent of a hood, tied to the waist at the waist.

In the days of old Scotland, women wore only light-colored clothes, and colored and checkered ones were only for men. If you dared to wear dark clothes in medieval Scotland, you would have been considered, at a minimum, a harlot. Today, of course, the situation looks completely different.

Kenya

Some of the most popular wedding gifts include food, money and livestock. The groom gives gifts, and the bride's family prepares the festive table in their home. Fried bananas will probably be on the menu. The bride's hands and feet are covered with ritual patterns applied with henna, and her body is rubbed with sandalwood oil. During the wedding, the bride and groom must jump over a broom - a symbol of the hearth. According to tradition, for the first month after the wedding, the husband wears women's clothing in order to better understand all the worries and hardships of his wife.

India

There can be no doubt here: the national wedding dress in India is, of course, the sari. In each state, wedding sarees vary in color, draping style, and embellishments. But the general rule is: bright, rich color and a lot of jewelry. The sari is considered the most noble and feminine clothing for a woman.

Mexico

A Mexican wedding is a fun, colorful family feast that is held mostly outdoors. It is traditional for a Mexican wedding to pair bridesmaids and best men, and each pair has a specific role in preparing the wedding ceremony. The place where the wedding ceremony and reception take place, the benches and chairs, and even the carpet along which the bride walks, are decorated with compositions and flower petals that the bride chooses. The brighter the better! At a wedding, there is always a live orchestra and most of the entertainment program consists of lively dancing. The dance with the bride deserves special attention. In Mexico, dancing with the bride is a bright competition, a colorful show: every guest who wants to dance with the bride must pay money for this opportunity, putting it in a special bag or attaching it to the bride’s dress. The colorful part of the ceremony is the tying of the wedding lasso. The wedding lasso is an integral part of the wedding and usually takes the form of a large rosary, ribbon or beautifully decorated cord. It is draped over the shoulders of first the groom and then the bride in the form of a figure eight (infinity sign) after the exchange of marital vows.

Main courses include shrimp and lobster paella, mole poblano turkey stew, and tostados (rice with various ingredients). Drinks: tequila, rum. A Mexican wedding is not only a bright, cheerful and noisy celebration, it is a celebration on a grand scale: the number of guests varies from 150 to 200 people.

Türkiye

Wedding clothes for Turkish brides were made from expensive materials (such as silk, velvet, etc.), and gold or silver threads were used to cut things. The costume consisted mainly of trousers (harem pants), a blouse, a jacket, a cape and a caftan. Girls wore a similar “wedding dress” until the end of the 19th century. I would like to believe that Turkish brides were not too hot in such luxurious attire...

Japan

The national Japanese wedding dress, no matter how strange it may sound, is the kimono. And it doesn’t matter what design and cut - the main thing is that it is silk. The main color of a Japanese wedding is white: the dress, jewelry and even the face should be white (the bride paints it with special paint).

The headdress plays an important role - in the Japanese sense, it is part of the dress.

West Africa

Kaftan is a wedding dress widely used in West Africa. Of course, it’s quite difficult to call this suit a dress (in the usual sense of the word). Usually it is a colorful, body-hugging fabric, embroidered with a beautiful national pattern, with an A-shaped neckline and clear lines of the neck and sleeves (they are indicated on the dress with beads and rhinestones).

China

Chinese national wedding dress is very bright and sunny, and it is usually red or red and white. In addition, it must contain a gold or silver embroidery design (very often this is a phoenix and a dragon, traditional symbols of China). Another “condition” of a wedding dress is that it must be long, emphasizing the elegance, femininity and purity of the bride.

Traditions of Europe

The classic wedding suit for a girl from Europe is a white dress. Traditionally, a girl must wear something old, something new, something borrowed and a blue thing. In England, the bride's hand is decorated with a small horseshoe wrapped in lace. An old pair of shoes at a wedding symbolizes good luck.

In Scotland, the bride receives a checkered scarf and a belt from the groom, with which the man tightens the girl's waist. He puts the scarf over his shoulders and pins it with a silver pin. This tradition emphasizes the power of love between newlyweds. The classic groom's costume at a wedding in Scotland is a kilt.

Brides from Southern European countries wear dresses sewn with their own hands. Such a suit is considered a real heirloom.

Indonesia

The most popular national wedding dress of Indonesia consists of a blouse (kebaya) and a skirt. “Sequins on shiny fabric” is what the locals call this clothing. But despite the apparent pretentiousness, the eye quickly gets used to such diversity and begins to notice important details: lace and precious stones, finely scattered throughout the dress.
