Winter Love Story – a fabulous photo session for lovers

The Love Story photo shoot in winter is incredibly beautiful, tender and reminiscent of a real fairy tale. Many people are mistaken in thinking that at this time of year it is impossible to take photos on the street and there is even nowhere to go. Everything is completely wrong, because it is during this season that original shots are obtained that cannot be taken in summer, autumn or spring.

As for frosts, you shouldn’t be afraid of them, firstly, you can choose a relatively cold day, and secondly, you don’t have to take all the photos outside, because there are plenty of other places where you can shoot a Love Story. Well, and, of course, lovers should choose the right clothes so as not to freeze and take excellent photo cards as souvenirs.

#1. Picnic in the snow

An impromptu picnic with a beautiful table setting in the snow is always very fresh and original. Prepare a picnic with snacks and hot warming drinks, stock up on blankets and spend unforgettable moments in the company of your significant other and the photographer. Consider the details of decor and clothing so that they match each other.

Tips for creating looks

Colors

If you want to look bright and catchy against the backdrop of a white winter landscape, then choose clothes in flashy colors:

  • purple;
  • red;
  • green;
  • blue;
  • or fuchsia.

And if, on the contrary, you want to get the sweetest and most gentle shots possible, then give preference to calm shades:

  • lilac;
  • pink;
  • peach;
  • blue;
  • or silver.

But do not wear completely white clothes, otherwise you will blend in with the snowy nature. Remember that your looks should include at least some bright accessories.

Warm yourself up

Choose warmer clothes. Firstly, in order not to freeze in the winter, and secondly, it will look much more appropriate than summer outfits.

It would be a good idea to dress both the girl and the guy in funny sweaters with bright prints, mittens or scarves of the same color.

For the fair sex, there are many options for warm knitted dresses or tunics, interesting shoes with fur and shiny appliqué. And men can wear suits made of thick fabric, such as corduroy. Also, during a winter photo shoot outdoors, warm yourself with blankets and shawls.

Let's keep warm

As an additional attribute, take a thermos with hot tea or cocoa with you to the shoot. This original accessory will help you stay warm while walking and will make your shots more interesting.

Snow

Don’t forget about the main winter feature – snow:

  • build a snowman or snow woman;
  • write the date of your acquaintance or first kiss in the snow;
  • draw a heart;
  • play snowballs;
  • roll in the snowdrifts.

Such fun will help diversify your romantic photography and highlight this wonderful time of year.

#2. House in the forest

What if you rent a house in the forest for the weekend and propose to your beloved in a completely unexpected way? And invite a photographer to capture this moment? It is better if the house contrasts with the white snow and has large windows for beautiful photographs.

Anton comments on his shooting

Dramatic photo shoot called “Frozen love”

First of all, I wanted to make the shooting unusual and story-driven. To do this, it was necessary to take a responsible approach to the selection of models: for me, experience in posing, type and... a beard were important! Not many props were used, including artificial snow, which, fortunately, can be found in any store during the New Year's Eve, as well as the most ordinary flour. Professional makeup played a huge role in creating the images.

The makeup artist for the filming series was Maya Vatutina, with whom we have been working closely for a long time. Maya is always ready for non-standard solutions and ideas: for example, artificial snow was also used in Marina’s makeup. It was these tricks that made it possible to convey the subtle atmosphere of our improvised “Sannikov Land”. By the way, this wonderful film about a mysterious island in the Arctic Ocean helped me personally gain inspiration.

The location for filming was chosen spontaneously and surprisingly well. Firstly, this was a part of the city that locals do not like to visit often. You rarely see passers-by here, and only young mothers with strollers occasionally stroll, almost without disturbing the harmony of this calm place. Secondly, it was here that there was a fairly tangible layer of snow, although already fairly covered with crust.

And thirdly, nearby there was a picturesque river bed covered in blue ice. A kilogram of flour was liberally scattered on open areas of soil and smooth stones. Its texture was ideal for dusting with light snow those places where there was none.

Despite the good result, we encountered some difficulties during the photo shoot. It so happened that the day turned out to be frosty. The entire team had to pause while filming and warm up with tea from a pre-prepared thermos. My hands were freezing, since working with a camera in thick mittens would have been an impossible task. But it was easier for models Pavel and Marina to play the “frozen” state.

After the models were generously sprayed with snow from cans and the environment was sprinkled with flour, we began filming. My inimitable assistant Anastasia Plotnikova worked with me on the production. However, some poses were completely natural and were captured by my keen lens by accident. I wanted to show not just two frozen people in the frame, but to depict love that can melt winter. The models, despite the fact that the photo shoot was staged, did an excellent job: tenderness can be felt even in their eyes.

After an hour and a half of working the camera shutter, the members of our creative team, pretty chilled, wet, but happy, ran to the nearest room to warm up. Everyone was eager to quickly view the resulting footage. Photographer — Anton Yesenin Makeup — Maya Vatutina Assistant/Producer — Anastasia Plotnikova Models — Pasha and Marina Oh

Cape for a bride for a winter wedding

If the bride has a classic white dress, then the cape can be the same color. If the young woman does not want to hide her thin waist, then let her wear a bolero cape. To make it warmer, it is better to sew this new thing from fur. You can make the main item from a material with a small pile, and trim the cape and the bottom of the sleeves with white fur with a large pile.

Redraw the pattern. As you can see, it is quite simple and for one bolero vest for a winter wedding you will only need 1 pattern piece. But since this is a fur bolero vest, you will need not only the main fabric, but also the lining fabric. White crepe satin is perfect for the latter. Take this canvas and cut out exactly the same part from it.

  1. If you have faux fur, then fold the main and lining fabric with the right sides facing each other and machine stitch so that the neckline remains unstitched. Then turn the bolero through it. And if it is natural fur, then you need to sew these two materials together on your hands.
  2. When you turn the bride's cape right side out, sew in the sleeves that were previously sewn on the sides. Now you need to decorate your product with fur with a large pile, sewing it onto the sleeves and across the entire bolero from the middle of one part of the neckline on the back to the other.
  3. Also, winter wedding clothes for the bride can be supplemented with a cape. This product will also keep you warm at a winter wedding. Vary the length of the cape at your discretion. If you want the resulting sleeves to be up to the elbow, then you can sew the same cape as in the photo. If the sleeves are longer, then the cape itself should be longer.
  4. You will determine this figure when you measure with a measuring tape from the beginning of the shoulder to the place on the arm where the cape will be. In this case it is 30 cm. But you can also make 40 or 50 cm. Look at the pattern to see how you need to fold the fabric in half. Then you will draw a ring like this on it, which will be the main product. The inner semicircle will also be useful to you. Cut out a collar from it.
  5. Decide on its length, and its width is 10 cm. Transfer the pattern to the fur, cut out the base of the future cape from it. Now take the collar blank, fold it in half lengthwise with right sides facing each other. Sew small sections on the wrong side. Turn the collar onto your face and place the top section of the cape between its two parts. Sew the collar to the main product.

To fasten the cape, secure the top with a loop and button or other type of fastener. You can use a special one for fur.

You can sew a longer cape so that the bride's arms are completely covered. Then first determine the length of the future product, then put it on the pattern. Look how good darker mink looks on light fabric. In this case, the dress may not be classic white, but to match the trim.

This is what else a cape for a bride could be like. In this case, you don’t even need to make a fastener. The pattern here is the same as in the previous case. But you need to sew the cape with the lining and then sew the side sections so that you get a ring like this. Then, using a matching color of braid, you will sew a ring that will help gather the cape at the front.

Such a bride's cape will effectively rest on her shoulders, as in the left photo.

And in the right photo there is a warm cape with a hood. It is also quite easy to sew. First you will make something like a long cape, then sew the hood here.

Provide a tie to secure this item. You can also sew a muff, which also looks impressive. Then the winter wedding will be great, because the bride will be the most beautiful at this celebration and she will be comfortable in her outfits.

The bride can insulate herself as she wishes. If she has a light coat, then let her wear it. Various scarves and stoles are appropriate. The main thing is that the young people feel warm in such clothes. Now you can buy beautiful light, warm fishnet tights and stockings. These will not only decorate her legs, but also insulate them.

As for shoes, since this is a winter wedding, it is not recommended to wear shoes in the snow. Therefore, low ankle boots are perfect for this purpose; you can buy them with fur trim.

#5. Photo session with animals

Of course, photographs with your beloved pet are classics of the genre. But you can also order a photo shoot with exotic animals: reindeer, foxes and alpacas are ideal for winter.

Winter family photo shoot

A winter photo shoot is great for capturing the brightest moments of family life. It is worth understanding that filming with children can take longer and be more problematic, so you need to be patient. For a photo shoot, it is important to come up with poses in advance, and perhaps even rehearse them with the children. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the ideas that look best:

  • Game form. In games and entertainment, children will look natural, and the process will become interesting to them. You can show such family photos to future generations.
  • Walking. Parents with children need to move towards the photographer or move away from him. This idea can be realized during the day while taking a walk in the park or in the city, in the light of the evening lanterns.
  • Staged. A simple idea - all family members stand in an open space or in front of their home and hug. This shot, although it seems simple, looks very soulful.
  • Family look. When all family members are dressed in the same style or color scheme, a special atmosphere is created that the photo can convey.

By the way, we have already talked about the secrets of a successful family photo shoot in the studio.

#6. Photo session with a car

If you have the opportunity to rent a car for filming, you can get an interesting story.

Indoor photography

Not all couples want to freeze outside, walk through snowdrifts and stand in the snow. There are many great alternatives to outdoor photo shoots.

Photo studio. Probably the first option that comes to mind when it comes to indoor photography. Today, many couples like to shoot in specially equipped photo studios. There may be several ideas for posing in such places:

  • a couple sits by a makeshift fireplace and warms up after a long winter walk. The groom carefully wraps the girl in a blanket;
  • the bride sits near a beautiful composition, while the groom stands behind her;
  • the bride sits on the groom's lap;
  • a couple looks at New Year's gifts under the tree. The closer the New Year is, the more relevant such photographs will be.
  • the bride and groom look out the window and tenderly hug each other. For this pose, it is better to choose a photo studio with a beautiful view of the city: snow-covered streets or a forest that can be seen in the distance.

If you prefer a photo studio, take care of this option in advance, because on the eve of the winter holidays it is more difficult to rent such places from professional photographers.

  • Museum. The interiors of such places are created for a magnificent, noble wedding photo shoot. Columns, stucco, high ceilings, beautiful staircases and works of art will create a royal atmosphere. Many of these buildings have beautiful and large staircases. Pose on different sides - next to the wrought iron railings. If the bride has a long veil or dress hem, shoot her walking up the stairs with a strip of fabric trailing elegantly behind her.
  • Cozy coffee shops. Drink hot chocolate or delicious coffee while looking out the window. If it's snowing outside, the photos will create a great contrast between warmth and frost.

  • Hotels and restaurants. Choose the setting you need for photography. What will it be? Luxurious apartments, cobbled stairs or a small restaurant with a cozy atmosphere? It's up to you to decide.

#7. Photo session in the mountains

Going to the mountains and proposing to your beloved there is an occasion worthy of a photo shoot!

Spring shooting of “Love Story”

Spring is the most romantic time of the year , the air is simply filled with love. At this time, nature wakes up after the cold, everything turns green and blooms, and this is a good time for a photo shoot. A gentle “Love Story” is the easiest to make in spring, because flowering trees create a gentle and romantic atmosphere.

You can take pictures during the rain using an umbrella as a prop. You can also take beautiful pictures near various bodies of water; you can even take a photo on a boat.

It is best to choose a secluded place with flowering trees. Spring does not require additional attributes, because such landscapes create the right atmosphere. a bouquet of tulips or other spring flowers can be used as a prop The use of balloons will also add tenderness.

#8. Stylized shooting of Love Story

In addition to walks and adventures at an altitude of 1300 meters, you can try on some historical or literary images and conduct a stylized Love Story shoot. For example, it could be something extravagant, in the spirit of the movie “Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.”

Photographer: Assol Oparina

So what does a girl of marriageable age need to know for the shoot to be successful?

Photo session Love story

First of all, you need to choose a videographer. Whether it will be a specialist known to you, or maybe an operator working in tandem with the toastmaster - it’s up to you to decide. The main thing is that he is a highly qualified master of his craft, since the quality of his work determines how the best day will remain in your memory and in the memory of your loved ones. Sometimes a videographer is found directly when choosing a wedding dress; 2016 is already presented in the collection. And many operators cooperate with salons.

The next step is to specify the style and atmosphere of the film. This could be a romantic selection of moments or a contrast of gray everyday life with a bright story. This point is key and requires prior agreement and preparation. Another important touch is the place where the love story will be filmed. Having chosen it in advance, you may need to prepare the attributes and furnishings in advance.

And finally, in addition to organizational issues, which are usually resolved by young people together, a girl must carefully approach her image and appearance. This is primarily clothing. It should match the chosen scenario and location. And, of course, highlight all the bride’s advantages and, possibly, hide her flaws. It is possible that during the shooting process you will have to change clothes. This also depends on how you decide to present your love story. If a change of clothes is implied, it is necessary to decide even before the creation of the film the question of where and how best to change the image.

The next stage of preparation will be makeup. It should be natural, since we are still talking about the run-up to the wedding, and not about the wedding itself. And at the same time, all flaws should be hidden on the face and advantages emphasized

It is undoubtedly better to entrust your face to a professional for such an important and significant event. It’s no secret that in the pre-wedding bustle and nervousness, it is possible that various flaws will appear on the face, which a specialist can better deal with

And the whole cycle of worries ends with hairstyle. It should be practical and on topic. That is, if you decide to focus on active recreation or walks by the sea, a chic evening hairstyle is unlikely to be appropriate here. But it is also not advisable to leave hair styling to chance, since over the course of many years of happy family life this issue will be acute every time you watch the film. These are just the main points that the bride faces during the filming stage of LoveStory. In any case, what it will be like is up to you to decide, since this is your wedding and your story!
