Marriage registration is not only a romantic act, but also a legal procedure, the observance of which ensures that the couple becomes a family at the official level. Not only Russians, but also foreign citizens and even stateless persons can register their marriage in Russia. This procedure is performed if there is mutual consent on the part of the bride and groom, as well as if they have reached marriageable age. In Russia, this age starts at 16 years old, but if foreigners want to get married, the age will be determined according to the legislation of their state. For some countries it is 18 years. The main thing is that entering into a relationship does not contradict compliance with the terms of the Family Code.

Why do you have to pay to register a marriage?

According to current laws, young people who want to seal their relationship in marriage are required to pay a state fee that covers some of the expenses of the registry office.

Currently, the state fee for marriage is 350 rubles.

If one of the future spouses belongs to the category of beneficiaries, he can pay the state fee using the benefit, which will total 175 rubles.

  1. The application does not have a single unified form and can be written in free form.
  2. The free form of the document is reflected in the main part, describing the reason for the written request. Other required blocks of the document are information about the addressee, applicant, date, signature. They are formalized strictly according to the rules of office work. On what days are applications accepted?

Since registry offices are government agencies, they are required to obey labor laws. Many people think that Saturday is a reception day, since weddings most often take place on Saturday.

But this is not true, most registry offices will register your application only from Monday to Friday, and Saturday and Sunday will be days off.

But there are other dangers; some registry offices have special days for accepting documents related to marriage registration. It could be Thursday or Tuesday, you can call the staff to clarify the day of the week more precisely.

There are also sanitary days on which outsiders are not allowed in at all; usually such a day falls from the 25th to the 30th of each month.

But there are exceptions in the opposite direction. In large cities there are now wedding palaces that can operate seven days a week, especially in the summer months. We recommend submitting your application on Tuesday or Wednesday as there are fewer queues on these days.

Payment of state duty through State Services

You can pay the state fee at home with Internet access. This can be done on the State Services website.

Step by step:

  1. Register on the site (for unregistered users).
  2. Activate in your personal account.
  3. Go to the “Payment” section and select the “Registration Office” line.
  4. In the form for sending a payment, you must indicate the purpose of the payment - to register a marriage.
  5. Make an online payment using a bank card, mobile phone or e-wallet.

Another convenient option for submitting an application is multifunctional centers - MFCs. They are located in every district of the city and operate from 8 am to 8 pm. In addition, the MFC receives an electronic coupon so as not to stand in line. While you wait for a call, watch TV in comfortable chairs. And if you come early in the morning, drink a mug of coffee to cheer yourself up; coffee machines are located in the corner.

In the Sberbank online service you can also pay the state fee for registering a marriage at the registry office. The service is available to bank clients who have a plastic card or bank account.

Step by step:

Apply in person

As we wrote above, newlyweds choose any registry office, just find out the opening hours and address in advance.

5 times we were asked what the difference is between a registry office and a wedding palace. The registry office registers marriages, divorces, and births of children. But the wedding palace deals only with weddings; it has a special hall for celebrations, places for guests, and good musical equipment.

If you visit in person, you will have to wait in line, especially if you are submitting documents in the summer. In addition, you need to call the registry office in advance to find out when they accept the application.

Apply alone, without a fiancé

A common situation is that the groom cannot come to the registry office with the bride to submit documents. This happens when a man goes on a business trip, serves in military service, is in another country, or is serving a sentence in prison.

The bride can submit documents alone; to do this, the groom goes to a notary and has the application certified. It is then given or mailed to the bride. At the same time, the girl fills out a second application with her data.

After both steps are completed, go to the registry office. If the groom is seriously ill or is in the hospital, then call a notary or a civil registry office employee to see him at the hospital or at home.

If the bride or groom is a citizen of another state, then have the application certified at the consulate.

During pregnancy

If the bride is pregnant, the registry office staff will register the relationship even on the same day. You just need to bring with you a certificate from the antenatal clinic, which will confirm this fact. The document states:

  • the name of the hospital where the girl was examined;
  • passport information of the bride;
  • gestational age in weeks;
  • date of receipt of the certificate;
  • information about the doctor who conducted the examination;
  • stamp with signature;

The certificate is issued on a special form so that it cannot be falsified. If the pregnancy is short, 2-4 weeks, then you will have to wait 1 month. But this is not certain, it all depends on the date when you apply to the registry office. But if the girl is already 5-9 months old, then the wedding will be allowed to take place as quickly as possible.

Legislation

The priorities of the family legislation of the Russian Federation are to strengthen the couple’s union and build partnerships based on love and respect. Chapter 3 of the IC is entirely devoted to the registration of family relationships:

  • in Art. the age of the future parents is indicated - from 18 years;
  • in paragraph 2 of Art. the possibility of marriage under special circumstances for persons over 18 years of age was noted;
  • Art. regulates that the presence of pregnancy is a specific reason for which the registry office has the right to register citizens earlier than 30 days after submitting the application.

General requirements for written appeals are set out in Federal Law No. 59 “On the procedure for considering appeals from citizens of the Russian Federation.” Based on it, as well as generally accepted business practice, the application consists of five details:

Information about the addressee and applicant

Since the application is an official document, we write it not just to a person on the street, but to an official. Therefore, we make sure to indicate:

  1. Addressee's position.
  2. Name of the organization.
  3. His first name, patronymic and last name.

The name and position of the addressee must be written in the dative case (we ask ourselves the question “to whom?”). For example, director Petrov or rector Ivanova.

Applicant information

In the information about the applicant, most often it is enough to simply indicate your last name and first name. When necessary, you can supplement with an indication of your position or status. We indicate this data in the genitive case (we ask ourselves the question “from whom?”).

Disputes often arise about whether it is necessary to put the preposition “from” in the line about the applicant. That is, which is correct: “Ivanova Maria” or “from Ivanova Maria”? Both options are valid.

The traditional form is to write without a preposition. But try reading the entire sentence - a series of first and last names sounds quite confusing. With a pretext this problem does not arise: it is immediately clear to whom and from whom.

Title of the document

It would seem that there is nothing difficult about simply writing a “statement.” However, there are some nuances here too. The most common question: should I write this word in capital or small letter? There are three valid spellings here.

With a lowercase letter at the beginning of the line and a period after the word

Traditional way of design. In this case, information about the addressee and applicant and the title of the document are considered one sentence.

Capitalized without a dot at the end

When you write the word “statement” in the center of the paper, it becomes the title of the entire document. And the same rule applies to it as to other headings: the first letter is capital, and there is no period at the end.

The same rule applies here as in the previous paragraph. In the center is the title of the document, which means there is no need for a period at the end. This type of spelling is usually found if the text is typed on a computer rather than written by hand.

Formulation of a request, complaint or suggestion

This part starts with a red line. You are writing a statement for a specific purpose and must explain here exactly what you want from the addressee. Describe the reason for your request, your request, your arguments.

The wording is not limited by any rules, but vernacular language will look inappropriate here.

Try to adhere to a formal business style. Express your thoughts simply and concisely.

Date of application

Typically, the filing date is indicated immediately after the statement of the essence of the application and is aligned to the left.

You can also indicate the date immediately after the name of the document.

Signature

The signature on the application is always put manually, even if you filled out everything else on the computer. It is aligned to the right.

  • introduction of a staff photographer and cameraman;
  • provision of cars for the wedding procession;
  • special tapes for witnesses;
  • folders for the first joint document of the newlyweds;
  • organization of a buffet in the registry office building;
  • other services.

A complete list of them can be obtained from the specific department. Payment is made on the spot. In this case, the money is given directly to the people who provided the service.

The registry office itself does not provide these services. All of these are partner companies that specialize in providing certain services. That is why it is impossible to make payment along with the state duty.

Practice shows that their cost here is slightly higher than in agencies that work not through civil registry offices, but directly with newlyweds. Therefore, it is worth checking the possibility of ordering various goods and services in other places.
