A wedding ceremony in a church requires preparation. For this you need:

Preferably a white or light-colored dress; the back and shoulders should be covered. You can choose an open dress, but cover your shoulders with a cape during the wedding. There must be a veil or other head covering on the head. Please note that the ceremony lasts more than 40 minutes, so shoes should be comfortable.
Groom
There are no special requirements for clothing, except that it is not customary for men to wear shorts or breeches in the temple. Usually a festive costume is worn.
Who can get married?
People who are baptized in the Orthodox Church and are in an official (registered) marriage are married. Orthodox Christians can marry representatives of some other Christian denominations. It is impossible for an Orthodox Christian to marry a follower of another religion: Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, or atheists. Church rules prohibit weddings in the Church between close relatives. Marriage of remarried couples is allowed.

What you need to know about the ritual itself
A trouser suit is not allowed in the bride's outfit, and if the model of your wedding dress exposes the shoulders and back, you will need a cape.
It is better to choose low-top shoes for visiting church - the wedding ceremony is long - up to 1.5 hours.
Modesty, modesty and once again modesty - this is the main principle in the bride’s makeup and hairstyle. No bright cosmetics or lipstick, no need for a high hairstyle - you will try, but the scarf will cover it, and the crown will look ugly.

Can people who have already started a family get married?
The wedding is performed not only on young people who are just preparing to start a family, but also on spouses who have already lived for a significant time in a civil (that is, non-church) marriage, concluded in accordance with state laws. In the Sacrament, their union receives God's blessing, and the Church offers prayers for the strengthening and preservation of this Christian family.

Temple of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Kolomenskoye

Tradition of parental blessing
- the groom and his parents come to the house of the bride’s parents and ask them for their daughter’s hand in marriage;
- upon consent to marriage, parents on both sides bless the newlyweds for a family union: the groom with the icon of Christ the Savior, the girl with the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos;
- the young make the sign of the cross and kiss the holy images;
- handing over icons, parents say that the time of raising children is over for them and with faith and hope they entrust their children to the all-powerful intercession of the Lord and Mother of God;
- icons, after the Wedding, are placed in the red corner, in the house where the bride and groom will live - these are the first icons of their family iconostasis.
- If one of the parents is not alive, then the survivor blesses;
- If parents are against marriage and do not want to give blessings, then you should contact your confessor and ask his advice on how valid the parents’ opinion is, is it based on selfishness or life experience and prudence.
