Hidden happiness: what captivates a bride’s bouquet of tulips

A bouquet of tulips is considered by many brides to be too simple and uninteresting for such a grandiose event as a wedding, but such neglect is completely unfounded. Presented in a huge variety of colors, the enduring symbols of spring can become the basis for chic compositions: from playfully bright to restrained and elegant. In addition, the accessory will cost less than analogues made from roses or lilies, and at the same time it will look more unique and interesting.

Symbolism

There is a beautiful legend about tulips that happiness is hidden in tightly closed buds, and it will only be revealed to a couple who truly loves each other. Considering that plants feel great when cut under almost any conditions , during the wedding they will definitely open and the omen will come true.
The tulip symbolizes fidelity, but the meaning may vary depending on the specific shade of the petals:

  • white traditionally signifies purity and innocence;
  • pink – romance;
  • red – strong passion;
  • orange – optimism and health;
  • blue - good luck;
  • purple – marital fidelity.

Interesting! Yellow tulips, despite the famous song, do not mean separation at all, but wealth, which means they are quite suitable for a wedding bouquet.

Advantages

The main advantages of tulips include:

  • budget;
  • endurance - the flowers will withstand drought, direct sunlight and frost, although, of course, this does not mean that the bouquet should not be protected;
  • long stems that easily take any necessary shape, allowing you to be creative when composing a composition ;
  • a huge number of varieties and colors;
  • the ability to use “native” greens , since the tulip leaves are large and beautiful;
  • flowers combine well with other plants without trying to crowd out their neighbors.

Which brides is it suitable for?

Tulips are universal flowers, and therefore will emphasize both the tenderness of a very young, dreamy girl, and the sensuality of an adult beauty.

Typically, a bouquet of tulips is chosen by brides who know exactly what they want and do not look at public opinion. The flower is democratic, but at the same time beautiful , so it will be appreciated by creative girls who know how to find and appreciate the beauty of life. Tulips are an excellent choice for brides who want to create a wedding bouquet with their own hands, as the plants will withstand any experiments with dignity.

Shades

A monobouquet is a composition of flowers of one type. The remarkable advantage of tulips is that such decoration can be created independently in one evening.

It is important to combine colors with the decor of the stems:

  • a wedding bouquet of red tulips is decorated with a satin ribbon in scarlet, coral or burgundy-red shades;
  • white flowers are good with the leaves of the tulip and bergrass itself, and a lace or silk ribbon will become a decoration. There is no need to sew on any additional pearls;
  • cream or pink compositions are intercepted with a ribbon of coral or beige shades, and yellow ones - red or orange;
  • tie purple flowers with the same or purple braid;
  • Even linen twine is suitable for boho-style weddings or off-site registrations.

Attention! The golden rule of flower arrangement is that you don’t need to combine more than two types of flowers.

The following types can be combined with tulips: peonies, roses, callas, irises, orchids, freesias, gerberas, lilies and chrysanthemums. Field plants (daisies, bells) will fit perfectly into a May white or yellow composition. Professionals will help you create a beautiful wedding bouquet of tulips, the photo below is the best proof of this.

Florists do not advise combining tulips with flowers that have a pungent or strong odor: daffodils, hyacinths. Lilac is also not a suitable option for the composition, since delicate tulips can fade in the middle of the celebration.

The green part of the composition, in addition to the leaves of the flowers themselves, can be gypsophila or bergrass. For compositions in orange or red shades, you don't need a lot of green leaves.

Naturally, there should be an odd number of flowers - from 21 or more. If you plan for the accessory to be small and modest, create a composition of 15-17 tulips. Flowers remain fresh for a long time, are not afraid of the cold, and open up more when it is warm. You need to cut the stems obliquely.

The shape of the bouquet can be round, in the form of a cascade of different shades, spherical or unusual (in the form of a wreath or waterfall). A composition in the form of a ball looks impressive, but to create it you need to hire a competent florist. The accessory is put on the hand and carried like a handbag or held with both hands.

Composition ideas

Tulips feel great both in solo compositions and in combination with other plants. Their stems hold their shape well, but are quite fragile - this is worth taking into account.

Since there are not only smooth, but also terry, and even fringed buds, it is absolutely impossible not to take advantage of this variety to create chic bouquets.

A duet of tulips with wild or garden flowers - irises, gerberas, peonies, freesias, lisianthus - looks good. But daffodils, lilacs or hyacinths are best avoided. Firstly, they will interrupt the delicate aroma of tulips, and secondly, they will come into conflict with their neighbors, causing them to wither faster.

The spring option is a combination of tulips with lilies of the valley and bells, but this solution is only available in the spring, during the flowering period.

Idea! The strong petals of tulips are perfectly collected into a specific form - glamelia, a giant flower created from individual buds. The tulips will withstand picking and remain fresh for the whole day.

You can also give preference to more chic combinations with roses, calla lilies or lilies. Both monochrome and multi-color options look interesting, but in the latter case, remember that you should not mix more than three pure colors.

With roses

Tulips can be an excellent frame for the queen of flowers. Rose is a sign of love and aristocracy, the most common flower option for wedding floristry.

If you choose both flowers of the same tone, you will get an interesting composition - bold, but with light notes of sophistication. A soft pink, cream, white bouquet will create a romantic image, and a red, especially dark, almost burgundy bouquet will suit bright, self-confident girls. In the latter case, be sure to add another bright tone-on-tone accent - shoes, handbag, lipstick. This will make the overall picture cohesive and elegant.

Remember that there are a huge number of varieties of roses, and next to the smooth petals of tulips, both miniature bush flowers and the rounded, cup-shaped buds of the David Austin variety or the classic elongated lines of Landora look great .

A combination of several shades is possible , for example, coral roses and powdery delicate tulips.
A more elegant composition is white roses and red-orange tulips. This bouquet is perfectly complemented by fresh greenery and small white inflorescences. It’s not forbidden to play with different shades of pink to get an incredibly delicate composition. For brave brides, the ideal combination would be a duet of blue roses and purple tulips.

Remember that roses are very jealous plants that release substances into the water that are toxic to other flowers. In order for the bouquet to last longer, the buds will have to be separated before placing in the vase.

With irises

Irises are used in bouquets as a sign of protection and sincerity. Spring bright buds, often blue or purple, will make a great match for both snow-white and colored tulips.

Abstract, seemingly careless forms of the bouquet are good, cascading ones are best. Remember that irises are very fragile, and therefore, after adding them to delicate tulips, the bouquet will have to be doubly careful. To strengthen it, it is good to tape the stems using a special floral wire.

With peonies

Lush peonies, a symbol of a happy marital union and prosperity, go well with tulips, creating a natural and bright composition.

Advice! Peonies are not frost-resistant plants, so you should not add them to a bouquet for a winter wedding.

The leading part in this duet can be played by any of the plants. Moreover, using terry tulips would be an interesting idea. Then the bouquet will turn out to be a single fluffy cloud. If you choose white or pink flowers, the accessory will turn out incredibly delicate. If they are bright, then bold and stylish.

Smooth tulips are no less beautiful next to double peonies , but in this case it is better to choose flowers of different shades.

With freesias

Fragrant delicate freesias will envelop the tulips in a real cloud.

A huge palette of shades of these colors allows you to use a variety of ideas. You can create a tone-on-tone bouquet or create a gradient from the middle to the edges or from top to bottom.

Don’t be afraid to add tulips of two colors to the freesia: one will repeat the color of the freesia, the other will play in contrast. Be sure to complement such a bouquet with greenery to give it romantic notes and visually refresh the composition.

The combination of white freesias and purple tulips looks elegant and bold. Red-pink, white-blue, orange-yellow combinations look good.

You can easily combine any color with white, and the bouquet will look aristocratic and harmonious.

Flowers and seasons: what bouquet for spring, summer, autumn and winter?

Why choose a wedding bouquet from seasonal flowers? Firstly, such plants will be more accessible and cheaper

.
Their quality will also matter. Specially imported flowers from around the world may not be preserved in perfect condition. However, by ordering plants that are usually available in a given month, you can be sure that we will receive ideally selected

Mono-bouquet of white or purple tulips

A snow-white mono-bouquet of tulips looks ephemeral , like a fresh, spring cloud falling on the bride’s hands.

The stem of the bouquet can be left bare. This will add freshness and naturalness. Or wrap it in white fabric or matching ribbon. An even more elegant option is lace. This bouquet looks elegant and is suitable for both classic and themed weddings.

Purple monochrome is no less chic. The rich, deep color perfectly sets off a snow-white or cream wedding dress, adding sensual, mysterious notes to the bride’s image.

It is not forbidden to play with shades, because purple and lilac are presented in a whole palette: from almost pink to very dark. If desired, you can dilute the composition with greenery or small white flowers. They will make the bouquet even more tender. A wide tone-on-tone satin ribbon will add elegance.

The bride's bouquet and boutonniere are always the highlight of the decoration.

You can make a stylish and elegant mono-bouquet from tulips, or you can put together an original flower arrangement with their participation. There is room to show your imagination in bouquets for girlfriends. For example, you can achieve a rainbow or ombre effect.

A boutonniere with a small stylish tulip bud is a very laconic and stylish option for the groom.

Floral print on wedding invitations is always a win-win! The print with tulips is no exception: look how spring-like, fun and fresh these flowers look on wedding printing!

When it comes to banquet table decorations, tulips can be used to create floral arrangements that will suit any wedding style and almost any budget! From luxurious white mono bouquets, to bright and bold color arrangements, they will all be stunning!

Even for gifts for guests, you already have a great idea, it’s in the air!

Form

Tulips fit perfectly into both round and cascading bouquets , so choose the shape of the composition according to your own preferences and appearance characteristics.

Advice! Remember that it is better to buy flowers with tightly closed buds. Even if you store them in the refrigerator, they will still have time to bloom.

A cascade is more suitable for tall brides, and a round shape is more suitable for short brides. The slimmer the bride, the smaller and narrower the bouquet should be. For plump people it is better to choose more voluminous options.

Tulips feel great in a completely round pomander that can be worn on the hand, or even in a glamelia created from individual petals. The endurance of the plant will allow it to withstand any test with honor and delight you with freshness throughout the day.

How to choose?

Lilac compositions have their own characteristics that every bride needs to know before choosing a bouquet.

  • If you want the bouquet to be modest, you should not make it up exclusively from purple plants. Lavender is a cool tone, and purple is bleak. Against this background, the bride can get lost and look expressionless. Therefore, it is necessary to add flowers in pink, orange-yellow and blue shades to the composition, and to make several accent zones in the bride’s makeup.
  • Florists recommend using white, red or yellow plants as colorful accents for a lilac flower arrangement.

  • It is ideal if purple flowers are present not only in the composition itself, but also in the hairstyle, dress trim, poncho, shoes, clutch or in jewelry (necklace, bracelet, hairpin with purple stones). Such a design will give the girl even more meekness and reveal her natural beauty and femininity. The lavender color in these accessories can vary in intensity.
  • If exotic flowers are chosen as the basis of the bouquet, then there is no need to decorate them additionally. This composition is self-sufficient and extravagant.
  • When creating a bouquet and discussing it with a florist, you must take into account that not every type of plant can be purchased year-round. For example, wildflowers are in short supply in the autumn-winter period.

Decor

For a mono bouquet, a minimalist design is best suited, when the stem remains green and fresh, only slightly held in place by a satin or lace ribbon . There should be floral wire underneath the decoration, otherwise it will be uncomfortable to wear the bouquet all day.

If you want monochrome, then it is not forbidden to wrap the entire leg with fabric or ribbon of the required shade. A good addition would be rhinestones, beads, various decorative butterflies, hearts and whatever your imagination allows.

You can add feathers, fabric or paper draperies, and strings of beads to the bouquet itself. Don't be afraid to experiment - wedding fashion approves of non-standard, fresh solutions. But don’t forget about harmony: sometimes the absence of an element spoils the impression no less than its presence, and vice versa.

Summer

Summer is the time of the brightest colors. Under the sun, they still appear lighter than they actually are, so you don’t have to be afraid to add “color” to your wedding. Especially if the ceremony is outdoors and held outdoors. For a classic style celebration, it is better to use a white and orange color scheme, and give the bouquet composition a traditional hemisphere shape. It is desirable that orange and apricot shades be present in other floral decor - garlands, arches, photo zones, table compositions.

You will need:

  • single-headed roses Vendela and spray roses Orange spray;
  • peony tulips;
  • Freesia Armstrongii;
  • berries of hypericum, viburnum and decorative pepper;
  • Eucalyptus "Baby Blue".

We make the arrangement close to a sphere, but slightly elongated along one of the axes in order to achieve the naturalness that is relevant today. We start with large flowers - single-headed Vendela roses. We set the oval shape of the bouquet “cap” initially. We arrange the first three roses not into an equilateral triangle, but into an isosceles one, as if stretching the outer buds along the longitudinal axis.

Add orange spray roses to the bouquet, then freesia. We place buds of different colors in groups so that the contrast is clearly visible. We continue to add berries, tulips, and then again roses and freesias until we reach the desired mass of the bouquet. Don’t forget to stretch out the opposite edges a little so that the oval is clearly visible when viewed from above.

We check if there are any empty spaces left. Fill them with flowers or bunches of berries

While the arrangement is not fixed, you can correct plants that are unattractively out of the general “cap” by taking them by the stem from below and carefully moving them in the desired direction

Lastly, add greenery around the perimeter. We wrap the stems with tape closer to the buds, then the composition will be dense. We form the “leg” of the arrangement. We trim the stems, leaving a length of approximately two palms. Be sure to place the arrangement on the water to drink it before the celebration.

Literally at the last minute we wrap the “leg” with a satin ribbon and decorate it with decorative pins.

Once again we cut the stems to about half their height, removing the part that stood in the water. This way we will protect the plants from rapid withering.

Mono bouquet in orange tones

Along with polychromy and lush free-form compositions, floral fashion suggests paying attention to minimalism, where expressiveness is achieved with meager means. A compact mono-bouquet will suit a miniature bride, the beauty of which lies in the variety of shades of the same color, as well as shapes and sizes.

You will need:

  • Rothschild's gloriosis;
  • ranunculus;
  • mini callas yellow and fawn;
  • parrot tulips Appricot Parrot.

Since most flowers used for composition have a curved stem, they can be collected using the parallel technique, simply by placing them next to each other. Due to the natural growth line, they will create a picturesque, spreading silhouette. Tulips have soft stems and can bend too much. In this case, they are supported on more stable calla lilies. Gloriosa has delicate petals and to protect it from creases, it is slightly raised above the rest of the buds. But these are not all the features of the tropical beauty.

The finished bouquet is secured with tape and wrapped on top with an aspidistra leaf cut into strips. The finished orange bridal bouquet is pictured below:

This is a good solution for a botanical or eco-style wedding.

Florist recommendations

To make flowers delight you long after the wedding, use the following tips:

  • Buy tightly closed buds. They will definitely open in a warm room;
  • To preserve flowers for a long time, wrap the bouquet tightly in paper and place it in the refrigerator in the vegetable compartment. In this form, it will live quietly for at least a couple of weeks without losing its freshness;
  • Be sure to cut off the ends of the stems before placing the bouquet in the vase. In this case, it is worth cutting at an angle, about 5 cm from the bottom, and in no case with scissors, but with a knife or pruning shears;
  • If the petals begin to fade, wrap the entire bouquet tightly in paper and place in water with added sugar or aspirin ;
  • Flowers should not be placed in a draft or direct sunlight.

ADVICE! Add a sprig of thuja to the vase with tulips. It will not only prolong their life, but also make them become brighter.

Each dress has its own bouquet

A beaded bouquet can be chosen to suit any, even the most complex and refined taste. And the basis of the choice is the same principles as the basis of the choice of a floral bouquet.

Firstly, the style of the bouquet matches the style of the wedding dress. For example, an elegant, but not too bright, medium-sized bouquet will go well with a lush “royal” outfit, and a mini-style bouquet should be purchased for a mini-dress. Today it is fashionable to dilute the classic white color of the dress with bright or deep shades of the colors of the bride’s bouquet, for example, blue or purple. It is also worth taking into account the season of the year chosen for the celebration. Cool and refresh your summer wedding with heavenly, acidic and citrus tones, save warm tones for fall and winter and save soft pastels for spring weddings. Secondly, the bouquet is selected according to the figure and height of the bride

Plump ladies should not order lush bouquets, and tall girls should not order elongated bouquets on long stems; small wedding bouquets and medium-sized bouquets will suit petite brides. Thirdly, when choosing a wedding bouquet, it is important to know what flowers the bride likes and what they mean. After all, for example, lilies and roses made of small beads cannot be immediately distinguished from real flowers.

The bride's image will look complete, thought out to the smallest detail, if her hairstyle and handbag, as well as the groom's suit, are decorated with the same beaded flowers as in her bouquet.

Photo

Tulips, especially delicate, light shades, look very impressive in a bride’s wedding bouquet. For example, as in the photo:

What about the bouquet?

After dressing everyone up, think again about yourself. This primarily concerns the selection of colors. And as I said earlier, the look is not complete without the right wedding bouquet. Let me remind you that the bouquet should also be harmoniously combined with the overall image of the bride. If we talk about pink colors, then there are no problems. Delicate peonies, tulips, chrysanthemums are available for your attention; hyacinths, dahlias, and anemones are also suitable. And of course, roses will serve as a flower for a bouquet at any time and in any season.

Don’t forget that the groom’s boutonniere must be selected or made for the bride’s bouquet.
