Now the Wedding Palace is considered one of the most romantic places in the city - on weekends you can always meet beautiful newlyweds here. However, most of the history of the building is connected not with wedding ceremonies, but with financial transactions - the first commercial bank in Voronezh was located here.

First commercial

In the second half of the 19th century, Voronezh experienced economic growth. It was at this time that banks appeared in the city. The regional branch of the State Bank was the first to open in 1864, and in 1867, under the auspices of the city government, the Voronezh City Public Bank was created, in which income from deposits made it possible to enrich the city budget.

In June 1873, the first commercial bank was created in Voronezh. Its founders were the most proactive representatives of the Voronezh merchants - Ivan and Alexey Klochkov, Alexander Petrov, merchants Polyakovs, Ivan Veretennikov, Vasily Petrov, Prince Vladimir Trubetskoy. They understood that the need to open a commercial bank was long overdue - before that, entrepreneurs used the extremely unprofitable services of moneylenders. The clients of the commercial bank included both small shopkeepers and large industrialists and traders.

Initially, the bank was located on Myasnitskaya Street (now Teatralnaya). And in 1881, in the very center of the city near Starokonna Square (now Lenin Square), a new building began to be erected for the bank. The land plot for it was donated by the city council member, merchant, grain merchant, philanthropist and honorary resident of the city Ivan Klochkov.

– Ivan Nikolaevich was the main initiator of the opening of the bank. He became its manager,” noted historian Pavel Popov.

The architect of the new building was Stanislav Myslovsky, the author of the most beautiful building of the Voronezh synagogue and Catholic church. The latter, unfortunately, did not survive - it was blown up in 1962.

Construction of the bank building lasted two years and was completed in 1883. But initially it was one-story. Stanislav Myslovsky designed the main facade in the spirit of eclecticism, inspired by Italian palazzos of the Renaissance.

“In those years, it was fashionable to build bank buildings in the spirit of eclecticism with an emphasis on the forms of the Italian Renaissance,” noted Pavel Popov.

Among the architectural techniques that Stanislav Myslovsky borrowed from the Italian Renaissance are high arched windows with a semi-circular finish and the so-called “diamond rustication”. These are massive stones with beveled corners that resemble faceted diamonds.

The bank's activities were successful. By 1913, its fixed capital would reach a million rubles, and deposits in current accounts would exceed 5.8 million rubles. The bank's management also did not forget about charity, providing financial assistance to a sewing workshop and an almshouse, the Students' Welfare Society, a drawing school, the Free Fireman's Society, and the Society for the Preservation of Public Health.

– But we must keep in mind that this bank did not provide any great assistance to the city. Basically, merchants invested in a commercial bank for their own benefit. For comparison, the Voronezh City Public Bank was located nearby, where local government was trying to accumulate some funds for the development of the city economy. But among the clients of the commercial bank there were no philanthropists who tried to donate money for the development of the city economy. In the 1880s, the public bank was gripped by a financial crisis; in fact, it went bankrupt,” said Pavel Popov.

The first Voronezh commercial bank continued to operate until 1917. After the revolution it was closed. In the 1920s, a branch of the State Bank was located within these walls.

Central registry office of the city of Voronezh

When entering the hall, you will be surprised by its grace and beauty. The huge staircase leading to the registration hall is always advantageously used by photographers as the main backdrop for their work.

Among photographers, however, there is an opinion that the Central Registry Office of Voronezh is not the most convenient place to work, and this is only because of the small size of the premises. But in general, the pictures here turn out beautiful.

During the wedding ceremony there is a musical quartet. A small but beautiful guest room pleases with the design of curtains, an abundance of flowers, and the presence of festively decorated furniture. The comfort of the fireplace and the general interior of the banquet hall will leave a warm impression; candles and fire envelop you in their splendor.

Applications can be submitted by going to the official website of the organization. This function became real thanks to the professional work of the employees of the Central Civil Registry Office.

"Moon in Aquarius" and "lucky" numbers

Who are they - the employees working in the registry office and leading wedding ceremonies? These are lawyers.

According to Yulia Kartashova, this year weddings are taking place at the Wedding Palace much more often than last year, 2020. Most newlyweds choose non-celebratory marriage registration.

– Nevertheless, there are many who want to carry out the ceremonial registration. Moreover, the peak dates are the 21st. For example, a lot of people wishing to register their marriage occurred on August 21 and September 21, 2022. Newlyweds believe that combinations of numbers 21 are lucky. They take into account not only numerology, but also make sure that the wedding does not fall during the fast,” Yulia explained.

The girl said that in her practice there were cases when newlyweds came to the registry office with a heavy tome, asked what date applications for the ceremony were accepted, and checked the date on the tome, calculating the phases of the moon.

“The bride opened the book, leafed through it, found the desired date and month and told the groom: “Your Moon is in the sign of Aquarius, which means this day is unlucky.” She tracked down the right day so that it coincided with the right phases of the moon,” noted Yulia Kartashova.

At the solemn ceremony now, as before, the newlyweds are asked whether they are entering into a legal marriage by mutual desire and consent. As the registrars say, so far there has never been such a thing that someone said: “No.” However, just a few years ago, it was fashionable among newlyweds to answer the main question of the wedding ceremony with a romantic phrase circulating on the Internet: “No” - my heart will not allow me to say, so I say: “Yes.”

“Many answered: “No,” and forgot what happened next. In such cases, we said: “I ask you to clarify your decision,” recalls Yulia Kartashova.

Levoberezhny Civil Registry Office: description

The area around the premises itself is small, completely unsuitable for a photo shoot. If there are a lot of people at your celebration, then it’s unlikely that everyone will be able to fit in, both in the building and outside it. The Left Bank Registry Office of Voronezh is located in the courtyard of a residential building, next to the roadway.

The interior is modest but cozy. It is quite clean here, the interior decoration visually expands the space, despite the small area of the room. The staff here is welcoming and friendly. There is a tiny hall, a room for a wedding ceremony. There is no room for newlyweds, which is inconvenient.

The interior is made in light colors and beige shades, curtains in a classic style. There is a full-length mirror, next to which photographers take original photographs of the newlyweds.

The diligence and cleanliness of the employees of the Civil Registry Office of the Left Bank district of Voronezh have a positive impact on the general condition of the premises and the atmosphere as a whole.

History of the palace

Initially, the building was built for the Commercial Bank, according to a project developed by S.L. Myslovsky. in 1880. In 1930, it was decided to build several floors to accommodate residential apartments. The construction was carried out according to the design of N.V. Troitsky. since 1934. Troitsky was the first to decide to build a building in the classicist style, taking the first step in changing the architecture of the city.

The superstructure was completed in 1935. The building is deservedly considered one of the most beautiful and interesting in Voronezh due to the well-developed theme of the order and the drawing of details. But this building was not suitable for a residential building, since it did not reflect the cellular structure of the residential building. In addition, the balconies, which were located only on the third floor, served a decorative function. Therefore, it was decided to carry out redevelopment in order to place the Wedding Palace in this building.

Railway registry office of the city of Voronezh

Today this organization is one of the most popular and in demand. Until recently, the interior left much to be desired; newlyweds complained about the low cabinet, the endlessly opening door and the absence of the first marriage dance. The staff took these wishes into account, and now the registry office with an original interior and convenient props is presented to your attention.

The old ceilings, wallpaper, stucco molding, curtains and doors have been replaced by the latest ideas, embodied for your comfort. The interior design is thought out to the smallest detail and has its own original idea. The room is designed in the spirit of modernity and has a stylized background with a ship on it.

I would like to note that upon entering the Zheleznodorozhny registry office of Voronezh, the scale of its solidity is visible. Large glass doors are open to the newlyweds and can serve as an interesting backdrop for a photo shoot. In addition, in the immediate area near the building there is enough space to gather a large number of people without fear that they will not fit. Near the registry office there is a clean and spacious area with a small green area.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantage of the Lenin registry office is the interior of the building and its internal premises. Due to the beauty of the palace, a large number of newlyweds seek to get engaged here. Clients also highlight the following advantages of the branch:

  • the presence of a musical quartet at the ceremony;
  • polite attitude of the service staff.

The palace also has its shortcomings. Newlyweds often complain about the following:

  • inconvenient approach to the painting cabinet;
  • lack of time to take photos after the ceremony;
  • accumulation of queues in the lobby of the building;
  • It is not always possible to park a limousine near the department.

Some visitors note the inconvenience of the location of the registry office, since it is located near the road and does not have a place for guests to meet the newlyweds near the entrance.

Interior decoration

In the lobby of the registry office there are:

  • mirror;
  • Coffee table;
  • two sofas.

The room for the marriage registration ceremony has a large area and is stylized in a nautical theme. There are many mirrors and decorative elements in the hall. Fashionable multi-level suspended ceilings with elegant crystal chandeliers rise above your head. The ceremonial registration process itself takes place against the backdrop of a powerful sailboat, symbolizing the beginning of a long and bright life together.

In a preliminary conversation, the future newlyweds discuss the details of the wedding ceremony with the registry office employees. All nuances, from the time of the celebration to the first dance, will be discussed and decided taking into account the wishes of the clients.

The structure of the civil registry office today works clearly and competently. Employees have a high qualification level and take a responsible approach to fulfilling their duties.

Luxurious staircases and champagne room

In 1973–1974, the building was redeveloped, after which the Wedding Palace was located here. The first floor was expanded - three beautiful grand staircases were built that lead upstairs to the ceremonial registration hall and the congratulations hall.

“After the ceremony is completed in the ceremonial registration hall, the newlyweds and their guests move to the second hall, where they take photographs, drink champagne and receive congratulations from their loved ones,” explained Tatyana Shcherbakova, press secretary of the Civil Registry Office of the Voronezh Region.

In the historical part of the former bank building - the same one that was built by the architect Stanislav Myslovsky - there is now a beautiful spacious hall where wedding ceremonies and honoring of married couples are held. The ceiling height here is 7 m.

– Today we can only guess and imagine how, almost a century and a half ago, a heavy door swung open in front of the Voronezh “millionaire merchants” and wealthy entrepreneurs, how they climbed a small staircase into a huge hall, where clerks sat at desks, who stood up when eminent clients appeared . Probably, frequent guests here were the industrialist Wilhelm Stoll or the merchant Samofalov, the owner of the bell foundry famous throughout Russia,” noted Tatyana Shcherbakova.

One of the interior elements of the central hall of the Palace are mirrors in the form of arches, which were inscribed in pre-revolutionary niches. Looking into them, you can see the prospect of arches stretching into the distance.

“These forms of mirrors were made for the opening of the Wedding Palace in 2006 after restoration,” noted Vladimir Troshin, head of the general department of the civil registry office.

The current room of the bride and groom is located in the historical part of the building. A Soviet-era bas-relief has been preserved on the walls.

Many people have probably noticed that the Palace has very high doors at the central entrance. The height of the doorway is almost 4 m. Vladimir Troshin explained that the doors are not antique, but are created according to the “family” model, from natural solid oak.

“The doors exactly repeat their details and glazing,” explained Vladimir Troshin.

It must be said that the interiors of the Palace are tastefully done, and the decorative compositions change here every season. In the spring there are spring primroses, in the winter there are fir trees, in the summer there are flowers, and in the fall there are orange-yellow leaves.
