Among all types of wedding invitations, a scroll has the greatest number of advantages in terms of creation time and versatility of use.
Depending on the text of the message or decoration, such invitations can be used both for a pirate-style holiday and for a classic celebration. They are very easy to make, because the shape itself, which differs from a standard card, is a decoration, helping to reduce the amount of decor used.
How to make a romantic wedding invitation
You will need:
- thick paper
- decorative woven braid
- decorations (in this case, sew-on flowers)
- gold marker (preferably with a calligraphic tip)
- glue.

Cut out the size and shape of the card you want from paper. Postcards can be either vertical or horizontal, or even square, as in the previous example. In this example, a horizontal postcard.

Use a piece of construction paper to make a "Heart" template and trace it onto the front.

Glue woven braid along the contour of the “heart”.

Use a gold marker to create designs on the front of the invitation. You can make curls, flowers or something else.

Mailing methods
If you choose to design invitations in the form of scrolls, be prepared for some difficulties when sending them out. Traditional mail in this case is not the best option - it is problematic to place the scrolls in a standard envelope. They are not packaged at all or placed in special boxes or tubes. The most suitable ways to send scrolls:
- Deliver it and hand it in person. The most reliable and fastest option, however, unacceptable for guests from other localities.
- Transfer by messenger. If the wedding is stylistic, then you can be creative in the delivery of invitations. Surprise your friends and family with a pirate messenger or a messenger from the times of the Russian Tsars. Having received a scroll from the hands of such a “postman”, your guests will definitely not forget about your celebration.
- Courier service. Convenient if necessary to deliver postcards to out-of-town guests. Make sure that the courier delivers the invitation directly to the recipient. Self-pickup in this case is incorrect.
If it is not financially possible to send scroll invitations to guests outside your locality, do not be discouraged. Prepare traditional invitations and send them by Russian Post or by email - a creative and convenient solution.
DIY wedding invitations. Romantic style. Option 2.
You will need:
- thick paper
- decorative woven braid
- sequins in ribbon
- gold marker
- universal glue.

Your invitation is made in the same way as in the first version, but before you glue the braided ribbon to the card, you need to glue the sequins on the ribbon.
Do this as shown in the picture, slightly retreating from the outline of the “heart” inward by 1 cm.

Easy to make postcards
The easiest option is to choose an invitation card or background you like on the Internet that matches the style of the wedding, choose a beautiful font and add text. Then simply print out the invitations and, if desired, decorate with ribbon, lace or beads.
Another option for making an invitation is to create a collage of photographs of the future newlyweds using a free online application. If you have enough time, you can personalize these cards by adding a photo of the guest to the collage.
Handmade Wedding Invitations
You will need:
- thick paper of two colors
- decorative stamp and ink (can be found in scrapbooking stores)
- scissors
- ribbon (width 1cm)
- hole puncher.

Print or write the wedding invitation text on a lighter piece of paper.

Prepare darker thick paper and decorate it with decorative stamps.
* Decorative stamps can be replaced with a gold marker and you can apply the patterns yourself.
3. Trim the dark paper as needed. Just make sure that the new piece is 1 cm larger on each side than the paper with text.

Place both sheets of paper together and use a hole punch to make two holes.

Insert ribbon from the front of the invitation.

Now you need to cross the ribbons from the wrong side and bring its ends back to the front side. If necessary, you can trim the ends of the ribbons.
How not to make invitations?
Even if you are planning a beach-themed wedding, you should not put sand in the envelope with the invitation card. The same applies to all sorts of sparkles and other little things that, scattered on the floor, will not please the recipient. Postcards made hastily, especially with typos and errors, cause displeasure.
Also, you should not choose an overly pretentious font for the invitation and indicate the dress code of the event unclearly (including in a humorous form). All this can only make you want to not attend the celebration in which you have invested so much time and effort.
Make invitation cards yourself - this is the only way you will set your guests up for the atmosphere of the upcoming celebration and make it memorable. Involve your girlfriends and friends in making them, let them enjoy the anticipation of this grandiose event with you.

When thinking about an original idea, you don’t need to get carried away and forget about the main purpose of the message. The wedding invitation must indicate:
- time and place of the wedding ceremony;
- when and where the banquet is planned;
- names of the bride and groom;
- names of invitees;
- what style should guests choose to wear if the wedding is themed?
When composing the invitation text, adhere to certain rules:
- The text must be individual for each guest. This rule is easy to follow if there are few guests. If you are planning a large-scale wedding, you can divide the texts into groups: for parents, friends, relatives;
- The invitation text always indicates the full names of the bride and groom. There are situations when distant relatives do not have time to meet one of the spouses before the wedding. An invitation with a name will help avoid awkward situations;
- In relation to close relatives and friends, the addresses “Dear” and “Beloved” are used. In relation to colleagues, such an address looks inappropriate, so it is replaced with “Dear”;
- Particular attention is paid to the text. Before sending it, it must be checked for punctuation and spelling errors;
- The address in the text is separated by a comma, the name of the restaurant and names are written with a capital letter;
- The invitation must indicate which part of the wedding the guest is invited to : wedding, painting in the registry office or banquet;
- If the invitation card is sent by mail, then you need to call the guest and clarify whether he received it or not;
- The text should have a beautiful and legible font. There should be no double reading, especially when it comes to the time and place of the celebration.
Of all the delivery options, personal delivery remains the most pleasant and exciting , because you can immediately see the guest’s reaction and receive a portion of good wishes. If you don’t want to send invitations by mail, then you should hire a courier. This delivery method is especially good if there is a themed celebration, and the courier will be dressed in a suit that matches the style.
Important! Sending impersonal invitations is not allowed. Each guest should be addressed by name.
