You want to know what your friends wish for you on the happiest day of your life?
And how interesting it will be to re-read this in a few years: you have become different, your friends too, someone wished you to “always live separately from your mother-in-law and mother-in-law” - and you, it turns out, are in perfect harmony with them...
But someone advised “to quickly give birth to a girl, as beautiful as the bride,” but she turned out even more beautiful, and her older brother was fine too...
But we never went to France, but we visited India... So many emotions, so many memories! But this is in the future, but for now the book of wishes will be needed not only by you, but also by your guests.
A wedding is a crowded and noisy holiday, and your friends, whose opinion you would really like to know, may be:
- shy and unwilling to speak out sincerely, knowing that they are in a crowd;
- For those who don’t know how to say something truly heartfelt out loud, it’s much easier to write.
Well, it will be very difficult for you on this day - or rather, it will be impossible to be alone with each of the invitees to listen to him. This is your wedding, and you will be the center of attention of all guests at once!
A book of wishes will not only solve this problem: a little imagination, and it will decorate your celebration or make it more fun - whatever you want!
If you immediately imagined a separate table on which lies a plump Talmud in lush pink lace, looking like a forgotten and dried-out cake, and your friends scratching with sour faces:
“I wish you success in your family life,” then we don’t want to deceive you: everything can be like that.
And the result is that Chekhov’s “Book of Complaints” is more fun to read than such voluntary-compulsory amateur creativity.
Secret wishes
If the newlyweds want to truly find out what their guests really want, then they need to hide the contents of their notes from the prying eyes of the other guests. A master class on creating a book of wishes for guests with separate envelopes for notes will be presented below.
For such an album you need to have simple A4 sheets for the printer. It can be white paper, or you can use a set of colored ones. It is double-sided, but you need to take one that is not very dense so that the album does not become swollen.
For notes and wishes, you can purchase separately thick rectangles for business cards. They will fit well into envelopes. All that remains is to make a lot of small pockets in which guests will insert wishes.
To do this, you need to take a strip of paper and round off its corners on one side with scissors, cutting off the edges. Next, the strip needs to be bent into three parts: two identical, and one small with rounded ends, which will serve as a pocket lid. The back wall of the envelope is glued to the page in the album.
At a wedding, this album is placed on a separate table, pens and white rectangular leaves are placed. Each guest can come up and write their wishes to the newlyweds, putting the message in an envelope.
Let's start creating?
How to make a wedding wish book with your own hands? Quite simple. If you are careful, the result will pleasantly surprise you.
The process begins...
- We will need a folder for papers with a binder from any office supply store.
- a pack of high-quality A5 paper (it is advisable to check before purchasing whether the ink of a pen, pencil, or felt-tip pen is smeared on it - otherwise the book will eventually turn into a portfolio of Beijing salad - a multi-colored mess on each page).
- material for covering the cover - the easiest way is to take beautiful thick paper, velvety, with a silk-screen effect, or whatever you want, you can even take thick fabric or thin leather.
- paper for gluing the inside sides of the cover - choose the color and texture to your taste. Thin cardboard may also work.
- tools: glue gun for crafts, stationery cutter, scissors, hole punch, ruler.
- and the most interesting thing: cover decorative elements.
What will you use according to the idea - ribbons, beads, chains, pieces of multi-colored fabrics, and maybe even leather and fur?
Well, you never know, what if you’re having a medieval-style wedding, and you want to put coats of arms from Game of Thrones on the cover!
A simpler frame option
The wish book can also be in a simpler, budget version. Instead of the hassle of taking photographs using an outdated camera, you can prepare figuratively cut pieces of thick paper for your guests that are the same size. Its color range may vary.
Clothespins can be used either the same or multi-colored. Of course, they must be new and of the same structure.
Creating a cover
Carefully remove the glossy layer inside the folder - the glue does not stick to it. Leave it just near the clamp. Insert one future “page” into the cover: is there a lot of empty space around the edges? If the cover is too large, carefully measure the edges you need and trim off the excess with a utility knife.

Measure a sheet of the selected cover material so that it covers the entire surface with an allowance for tucking inward.
Glue this background sheet onto the cover evenly, without wrinkles, tuck the edges and also glue it well. Measure out four ribbons. Seal the top and bottom edges of the inside cover with two tapes so that they hide the folded edges. The other two will become ties.
However, you can make ties to your taste - from braid, some interesting ropes, leather laces... Glue the ties tightly so that they don’t try to come off at the most crucial moment.
Cover the “inside” of the cover with the sheets selected for the internal surfaces. Now you can do the fun part: designing the cover! The “form” is ready. Let's move on to the "content".
Design of sheets
The cover of the wish book is , of course, one of the main items that will be decorated. However, in a closed position, the book of wishes will lie, at best, half of the time, but guests will approach it and write something on the sheets throughout the entire evening.
Therefore, the sheets themselves can and should also be designed and decorated. You can limit yourself to beautiful fonts and digital page design. On such pages they usually leave a column “from” and “wishes”, sometimes a small place for a photo.

Simple lined pages with a patterned corner sometimes work best to subtly highlight the rest of the design.
You can also design simple office paper if you have suitable stamps and ink pads at your disposal. Stamps are placed in the corners of the pages, and the sheets themselves are tinted on all sides with an ink pad.
The book opens...
You need to answer yourself the following questions
- Will your wedding wish book have a title page? If so, what will it look like, what will be written and/depicted on it;
- how the pages will be designed.
The pages of a book of wedding wishes - you can look at the templates - are usually not empty. They contain orienting subheadings “from whom” (the name of the author of the wish) and “I wish you” or something like that.
You can copy and remake such a template in Photoshop, you can create your own with completely different text, with pictures, with your own photographs (let them leave wishes under them, you can even separately for the bride and groom), even with a funny questionnaire, so that guests certainly don’t “hovered” over the book of wishes, for example:
- Where will we go to travel?
- What will we name our child?
- Our first big family purchase? - etc.
Such questionnaires are then very interesting to read: as a rule, some of the guests take the game quite seriously and answer reasonably: “To Goa, Ivan, a car,” and the rest ... “To Narnia, Polycarp, a throne for the mother-in-law.” But everyone was interested!
On the future pages of your book, you need to accurately mark the puncture locations, work with a hole punch - and please: you can print the prepared template on them!
Or have you decided that it is not needed and will design the pages manually?
Or maybe you could provide this opportunity to guests by immediately placing markers next to the book so that they can not only write something for you, but also draw a picture?
This is also very interesting, especially if the pages contain inscriptions in random order: “draw our dream here,” “draw a portrait of the bride,” etc.
Once you think the pages are ready - printed, colored, or left blank - simply "tuck" them into our cover.
Your completely unique wedding wish book is ready!
Decoration
To beautifully decorate a wedding wish book with your own hands, you need to learn how to make decorations from satin ribbons. This can be done by practicing in advance and looking at information on the Internet. Since the base of the book is fabric, the decorations are perfectly attached to the base using threads and a needle. Created by folding ribbon, roses or other flowers are attached to a strip of lace or contrasting fabric. In between colors, you can sew or glue additional elements. These could be butterflies, bugs, dragonflies, beads or bows. Such accessories can be purchased at sewing supply stores.

Wedding toast from a witness
Dear guests! I have always been a close friend of _____ (name of the groom), so I regret the fact that now I will have to see him less often. However, we all know who is to blame for this. This is a bright angel who stole the heart of our friend. This was done by our dear bride ____ (name of the bride). And we all witnessed the birth of their new happiness. The groom was very lucky in that he met a real angel on earth. Today the bride is pure and sweet, beautiful and tender. She has the power to make sure that happiness reigns in the home of a young family. And I know for sure that she will make a real paradise for her husband, because she sincerely loves him. It is for this reason that we do not regret the partial loss of a friend, because we gave him into reliable, gentle and caring female hands. Now the kindest and most beautiful creature will take care of him. That’s why I want to raise a glass to the health and happiness of this angel, who, we believe, will make our best friend happy! For the bride!
