DIY wedding invitations - step by step

  1. Let's get to work. Attach a card or printed invitation to a lacy cake napkin. Fold the top and bottom of the napkin, as well as along the sides, so that the perimeter remains marked without using a pencil along the 4 lines.

2. Now remove the invitation itself to cut out the excess along the lines marked on the napkin. To complete this step, help yourself with a ruler. Remember to only cut out the top and bottom and leave both sides on the right and left.


3. Attach four small pieces of double-sided tape to the back of the card.

4. Place the invitation in the center of the cut out napkin and press with your fingers to adhere securely to the tape.

Creating an invitation card step by step

  1. Cut out a rectangle measuring 30x15 cm from designer cardboard.
  2. On the scoring board we make a straight groove exactly in the middle for subsequent folding of the cardboard. Fold the card in half and get an even fold.

3.Make a bow from a 2.5 cm wide satin ribbon. Attach the bow to the card with a glue gun.

4.Next we print the text for the inside of the card. We trim the edges with curly scissors. If you don’t have such scissors, then scissors with straight edges will do.

5. Attach the text to double-sided tape 2 mm wide.

6.On paper or tracing paper, print the inscription “Wedding Invitation” and cut it out. Using scissors, wrap the ends into a tube. Using double-sided tape 5mm or 10mm wide, we glue the inscription on the title page of the wedding invitation.

Printing paper

Paper is the most important element of printing production. After all, the appearance and quality of printed products depends on the type and characteristics of paper. Main types of papers (in fact there are many more):

  • Self-adhesive paper and film

Offset paper

Offset paper is uncoated paper and has a rough surface, does not reflect in the light, and a pen can write on its surface. Initially, offset paper was intended for printing using the offset printing method, which is where it got its name. Now suitable for almost all printing methods. People know it as printer paper. Offset paper is suitable for foil stamping, embossing, and numbering. But lamination is rarely done. Offset density 65-190 g/m2.

Printing on offset paper has its own peculiarities. The paint is absorbed, spreads, and the image is not as bright and clear as on coated papers. Offset paper has a number of advantages. Liquid absorption properties are used in the production of blotters - they retain the smell of perfume well. The absence of glare does not tire the eyes. Therefore, offset paper is used to produce book blocks. Convenience for writing is suitable for the production of forms , notepads , cubes , sketchbooks and sketchbooks. Offset paper is inexpensive and is used where the high cost of the product is not required, for example, for the production of postal envelopes.

Coated paper

An additional coated layer is applied to the paper base, which does not allow the paints to be absorbed into the paper base. The paint dries quickly, dot gain is reduced and the image is bright and clear . Both offset and digital printing methods are suitable for printing on coated paper. Good for foil stamping, suitable for selective UV varnishing and lamination. Initially, the paper turns out matte. Due to the additional passage of paper through special rollers, the surface of the paper becomes glossy, dense and thinner to the touch than matte.


Density range 65-350 g/m2. Glossy paper looks good in advertising products, while matte paper is used for printing products in a corporate style.

Disadvantages of coated paper:

  • The pen writes poorly - not suitable for letterhead products;
  • fragile, requires additional lamination when producing bags;
  • brittle, a creasing operation is required when folding paper with a density of over 170 g/m2.

Calendars , postcards , business cards , covers for catalogs and booklets are printed on thick (250 - 300 g/m2) coated paper . At medium densities of 130-200 g/m2 - advertising leaflets and paper bags . Leaflets , internal blocks of catalogues, and handout leaflets are made from light varieties of chalk 90-115 g/m2 .

Designer paper

Designer papers are divided into collections and may have:

  • unusual surface - texture or embossing, which is felt tactilely and visually, imitating the surface of materials - tweed, cotton, leather;
  • special effects - pearlescent shine, inclusions in the paper structure - colored hairs or sparkles.

There are technological difficulties when working with designer paper. Consultation with a technologist is required when discussing an order. Kraft paper and cardboard

Kraft is a high-strength paper or cardboard that is beige or white. Craft density is from 45 to 300 g/m2. Kraft is an environmentally friendly material, made from long-hair cellulose, which can be recycled. Used for making bags, envelopes, packaging, folders, notebook covers, business cards. It prints very well with offset, silk-screen printing and even digital printing, which allows you to produce products from 50 pieces.

Coated and binding cardboard

There are cardboard types - waste paper and cellulose, single-sided and double-sided, laminated, binding... The reverse side is gray, yellowish or white. With the same density of cardboard and coated paper, cardboard is thicker. Coated paper with a density of 300 g/m2 is equivalent in thickness to cardboard 230 g/m2.

Single-sided cardboard is more rigid, it is used for the production of:

  • advertising folders, notebook covers and all types of calendars;
  • envelopes, especially for courier services and insurance companies and large packages.

Double-sided cardboard is a more expensive type of cardboard, used for the production of products that are subject to increased requirements:

  • business cards, postcards and invitations;
  • catalog covers and premium packaging.

Unlike high-density coated papers, cardboard is stiffer, stronger, holds its shape better, and is elastic. It cuts well and can be used to do almost all types of finishing work - embossing, embossing, UV varnish, lamination.

Self-adhesive paper and film

Self-adhesive paper is paper on which an adhesive layer is applied, covered with a backing that can be solid or notched. The front side can be coated or uncoated. A variety of permanent and removable adhesives are used. There is self-adhesive paper that should collapse when you try to peel it off. This is necessary for the manufacture of special protective stickers.

Printing on self-adhesive paper is used for:

  • advertising and information stickers;
  • for packaging - product name, price, barcodes;
  • stickers on bags, folders, when it is difficult to apply information using other printing methods.

In addition to self-adhesive paper, there are films that are white, colored or transparent. They are used for outdoor advertising when paper is not suitable. The film can be washed and is not affected by weather conditions. It is used for printing signs, advertising on cars, and designing points of sale.

Self-copying paper

Used to make copies of documents. There are three types of layers - top, middle and bottom, which have different chemical properties. On the top and middle layers, the reverse side of the sheet is covered with a layer of microcapsules, which, when pressed with a pen, are opened and color the next layer of paper. How to write a wedding invitation text

The text must be composed in such a way as to convey all the information, and at the same time it looks artistic.

You can choose a universal text and sign everyone’s postcards the same way. You can buy an invitation card with the text already written.
