Wedding bouquet of orchids - beautiful combinations in bouquets

The theme of the wedding, and especially the image of the bride, has been and remains one of the most relevant in all centuries .

And since trends in fashion and style change quite often, a modern bride must know the rules for creating both an image in general and a bouquet in particular.

Otherwise, she risks becoming not the embodiment of beauty and tenderness, but a laughing stock at her own wedding.

The bride's bouquet is the first and most tender gift from the groom on his wedding day . That is why it should look cute and elegant and go harmoniously with the wedding dress. Also, it should not contain provocatively bright tones, this will lead to a violation of the overall harmony and the image will be spoiled.

Features of orchids

A charming flower of true passion. It blooms for a very long time (from 3 to 8 months), and for this reason it is almost always available in a florist shop.

Classic wedding mono bouquet of white orchids

The orchid is surprisingly durable - even in a bouquet it does not wither for about a month.

Most types are unscented - ideal for brides who suffer from occasional migraines or allergies.

In addition, these flowers come in an incredible variety of variations, which makes them so popular among ladies who want a completely unique floral arrangement for their wedding.

Advantages:

  • The symbolism of the flower is suitable for the occasion of a wedding (love, grace, femininity)
  • Durability
  • Does not have a strong odor
  • Huge variety for a unique composition
  • Always available

There is only one drawback - these flowers are relatively expensive.

Advantages of film compared to other wrappers

When bouquets are collected not only from flowers, but are supplemented with edible products, fruits or sweets, then film is often chosen, guided by its main advantages. Advantages of polyethylene:

does not get wet and does not spread when in contact with a humid environment, unlike paper packaging; no traces of juice from fruits, vegetables or stains from fatty foods remain on the surface; does not rot or become moldy, unlike organic packaging; has high tensile strength, which is important when working with thorny plants; has a good UV protection factor, which will allow flowers to stay fresh longer; the cost is much lower, in contrast to expensive packaging made from natural materials.

Varieties of orchids

In New Zealand they believe that orchids are rainbow fragments that once fell to the ground. And not without reason, because more than 30,000 species of these amazing flowers grow all over the planet!

Flower meaning

An orchid, or phalaenopsis in other words, carries certain symbolism. And perhaps the bride will be interested to know what the flowers that she chose for her wedding bouquet mean.

It is noteworthy that different countries have their own explanation of the symbolism of this flower. Thus, in the eastern regions the orchid brings harmony, in China it is a sign of feminine charm and sophistication. But in New Zealand there is even a legend about phalaenopsis. There it is believed that these are fragments of a bright rainbow, which appeared and instantly disappeared, falling and breaking into thousands of small pieces on the ground. Beautiful orchids emerged from them.

Phalaenopsis is rich in color. It is found in white, pink, milky, purple, blue, blue and other shades. Lilac and Marsala colors are popular. Each of them also has its own purpose:

  • pink – purity, devotion and tenderness;
  • white – high spirituality, strong will and wisdom;
  • blue – loyalty and nobility.
  • red – symbolizes love, protects the family;

The overall meaning of flowers is richness, sophistication and beauty. And if you combine various types of orchids with each other in a wedding bouquet, you will get a composition of extraordinary beauty.

What does it symbolize

The flower is highly symbolic. It personifies refined elegance, wisdom, and royal pride. This flower also speaks of true love and family harmony and large families, which makes it an ideal choice for a wedding bouquet.

How to extend the life of a cut orchid

In a flask with a nutrient solution, the orchid will remain attractive for about a month. But at the same time it is necessary to ensure compliance with a number of care rules:

  • locate away from central heating radiators, other heaters or air conditioners;
  • if possible, lower the room temperature to 16-18 degrees;
  • When ventilating the room, avoid being in a draft;
  • prevent direct sunlight from falling on the petals;
  • after 2-3 days, replace the water in the flasks, pour fresh and clean water with a dissolved nutrient composition for cut flowers;
  • cut the stem a few millimeters once every two days;
  • carry out bathing, once a week immerse the flowers completely in water of 7-10 degrees for a couple of hours.

The best combinations of orchids in a bouquet

An orchid is more of a decorative flower than the main figure of a flower bunch. Of course, you can make a monobouquet, however, in this case the orchid is “lost” and the composition looks incredibly ordinary, especially if all the flowers are the same color. However, you can call on your imagination to help and, for example, change the classic shape or mix colors (pink orchid + purple).

Mono-bouquet of white and pink orchids

Chrysanthemums, callas, alstroemeria, hydrangeas, daisies with large baskets and freesias would be good neighbors.

Combination with roses and hydrangeas

The most successful option would be to combine this flower with a rose. The charm of the queen of flowers and the refined grace of the orchid are in such harmony with each other that they will decorate absolutely any girl. And the insane variety of colors of each of these flowers provides an endless field for imagination and floral experiments!

Do it yourself - composition of a wedding bouquet

This information will be useful for brides who prefer to decide for themselves what exactly their set of flowers will be.

Provided that when we do it ourselves, it is very important to think through the composition of the wedding bouquet correctly. There are also some recommendations in this question

To create the most beautiful compositions, it is best to use a variety of phalaenopsis or dendrobium, which have thin stems and lush flowers. With their help you will get graceful and elegant bouquets. With the “right” combination, purple, brindle and violet colors look very beautiful. The most common light and pastel colors for decoration are white, soft pink or cream.

If you combine orchid flowers with other flowers, you need an original approach. It is worth choosing other flowers with small buds. If these are rosebuds, the combination will be very beautiful, but you need to arrange the composition very skillfully, since these two types of flowers are rivals, not inferior to each other in their beauty.

Lily flowers are absolutely not suitable for combination with orchids, either in their appearance or smell. The design is very beautiful in combination with the use of calla lilies, freesia, hydrangea, chrysanthemum or modest chamomile. If the wedding bouquet is elongated, it can be supplemented with fern leaves or reeds. Be sure to take into account the fact that the bouquet should not be very lush if you have a voluminous wedding dress.

The shapes of the compositions are very beautiful when they are made structural or flowing, in the form of a basket with a small handle or a classic round shape. You can also complement them with decorations. And then, for sure, your bouquet will be unique.

Forms of bouquets with orchids

If the bride nevertheless opted for a mono-bouquet, then there is an option to diversify it and add originality by changing the shape. The composition will look unusual if you move away from the standard hemispherical shape for wedding flowers and arrange the orchids in a cascade. The stem of the bouquet is in the hands of the bride; they are almost completely covered by an asymmetrical lush head of flowers, which gradually narrows and by the end there are literally a few flowers or buds left. This unusual shape of a flowing bouquet will surprise guests and add charm to the hero of the occasion.

Cascade bouquet with lilies

And, of course, the classic hemisphere. It is worth considering that in this embodiment, the orchid serves as a decoration (since the florist will disassemble the branch into flowers, and not use it entirely), and therefore the main flower should be some other one. In this case, the bouquet will look organic and attractive.

Important! If the wedding dress is lush, the bouquet should not be made voluminous, this will visually expand the bride.

How to save a finished bouquet

Many people are interested in whether it is possible to extend the life of an exotic flower in a bouquet and how to do it. In order for a tropical flower to feel comfortable, it is necessary to provide it with the proper conditions. So, at average air temperature, the humidity level in the room should be in the range of 50–70%.

Tropical flowers do not like to be in a draft or indoors where sudden changes in air temperature are possible.

An orchid used as an element of a floral composition sooner or later begins to fade. You can refresh the plant a little and slow down the process of its death using simple procedures:

  • shorten the flower stem daily;
  • add a small amount of special fertilizer to the water, which can be bought at any flower shop;
  • Immerse the bouquet in water at room temperature (the duration of this procedure is no more than 10 minutes).

Few people know that an orchid can not only decorate a home greenhouse, but is also often used to create floral arrangements. Whether it will be a bouquet or a floral florarium is up to you. But such a gift will definitely make an incredible impression and will be remembered for a long time.

Decoration elements

If the shape of the bouquet is cascading, you can decorate the flowers with fern or reed leaves. The result is a unique tropical option.

Bouquet of peons, roses and orchids decorated with silk ribbons, rhinestones and greenery

The timeless spherical classic will look presentable even without decoration. However, those who wish can experiment with different additions: pins with pearl or crystal heads, feathers, shells, bamboo, semi-precious stones and corals.

Here are a few more flowers that you should definitely pay attention to when choosing a wedding bouquet: freesias, daisies, lilies, hydrangeas, peonies, roses, wildflowers.

Execution options

If you can make an ordinary bouquet yourself, then when it comes to a wedding, it is better to use the services of a professional florist. The wedding bouquet must fully match the image of the bride and harmoniously match the design and color scheme of the dress. This can be either a monochrome floral composition or a more contrasting option, which will serve as a kind of accent in the bride’s image.

An orchid is a self-sufficient flower that does not need additional decoration. Do not overload the composition with unnecessary elements and decorative design. Having studied the fashion trends of the last few years, we bring to your attention a selection of the most popular options for wedding bouquets of orchids:

  • classic model - a voluminous bouquet of a classic round shape;
  • Biedermeier - floral composition in the form of a volumetric sphere on a long stem;
  • bunch - a floral arrangement thought out to the smallest detail, but seemingly careless;
  • Cascade is an exquisite and luxurious version of a wedding bouquet that requires certain knowledge and skills to assemble.

Luxurious bouquet of roses and orchids with your own hands

Instructions for a hemispherical wedding bouquet of white, cream roses and orchids (color of your choice).

You will need:

  • 25 roses - 13 cream with a large bud and 12 white with a narrow bud
  • 3-4 branches of orchids (about 15 flowers, including buds)
  • strong floral greens for garnish
  • floral knife
  • scissors
  • green floral tape
  • adhesive tape
  • wire 0.6 mm (preferably from a florist shop)
  • wide satin ribbon in the color of the bride's dress
  • pins

Action plan:

  1. Trim your roses to a length of 45cm and remove all leaves and thorns from the stem.
  2. Take 3 cream roses with a large bud and 1 white rose with a small one. Place three cream roses in a circle and a white rose in the center. And so gradually add rose after rose in a checkerboard pattern to form a hemisphere. Place flowers at an angle of approximately 45 degrees.
  3. Control the height of the outer flowers (each subsequent row from the center is approximately 1.5 cm lower than the previous one).
  4. Shorten the stems slightly.
  5. After the base of the bouquet is created, it is necessary to secure its shape. Use adhesive tape and wrap the bouquet 3-4 times along the entire length.
  6. Put the roses aside, let's get on with the orchids. Take the wire, pass it through the dense lower part of the orchid by 5 cm, bend this piece towards the stem.
  7. Wrap the wire and the flower stem tightly with tape. Prepare all the flowers and buds in this way.
  8. Add orchids to the base of the bouquet, filling in the empty spaces between the roses. Try to arrange flowers harmoniously and proportionally.
  9. Wrap duct tape around the bouquet again to secure the orchid wires to the rose stems.
  10. Now it’s the turn of the greenery - it will not only decorate your bouquet, but also hide the visible wire. Take a twig (or part of it, if the branch is large) and attach it to the base of the stems, under the flowers. Place the leaves in this way around the entire circumference of the bouquet. The greenery can either protrude from the edges of the bouquet or be hidden under the flowers - at your discretion.
  11. Secure the greenery to the rest of the arrangement with duct tape.
  12. We decorate the bouquet handle. If you want a bouquet decorated with a bow, then first you need to attach it to the stems - first with a wire (from 1 mm), and then again with adhesive tape.
  13. Take a satin ribbon and wrap it tightly around the stems of roses and orchids. You can secure the tail of the ribbon with decorated pins.
  14. Trim the stems of the bouquet.

Ready!

You can see in detail all the stages of assembling a bouquet in this video:

All cards on the table

So, for dessert I prepared the main thing. I am sure that if your profession is not related to floristry, then you do not know the only exception to the rule “evenness of flowers in a bouquet with callas and other flowers”, or rather “oddness”.

It is an accepted rule all over the world that an even number of flowers is not given to a living person. An even number is for dead people. The only exception is this beautiful flower. It can be given in pairs. Because such a gift symbolizes family, fidelity, harmony in relationships.

I find this a very interesting fact. And you?

We'll show and tell

As promised, here are several master classes on creating masterpieces on your own. The first master class very clearly shows how to assemble a very interesting specimen:

You can create a simply stunning composition using this video:

Don't forget about the wedding bouquet backup. I wanted to offer you a “handmade” product made from satin ribbons, but I came across this beauty. Even I was breathless with delight. I've never seen anything like this before:

I am sure that now you want one for yourself! Here you can learn how to make one, or personally communicate with the master. Don't forget to leave a review - my personal request!

The main thing is not to overdo it

It seems to me that everything is good only when in moderation. I offered you calla lilies in the bride's bouquet and told you their meaning. He showed how to make a wedding bouquet with your own hands and talked about bouquets with calla lilies and other flowers. I didn’t forget about the bouquet with delivery in Moscow.

In my opinion, this is the most necessary information without unnecessary and unnecessary water. But, if I still didn’t foresee something and left your question unanswered, you can subscribe to my blog.

And a magical, tender and very touching armful can be collected from calla lilies and roses, freesias and calla lilies, lilies and calla lilies, or calla lilies and alstroemeria.

Which bride would suit a bouquet with orchids?

A luxurious, mysterious orchid is the choice of a bride with truly inexpressible charm. This is the flower of a woman distinguished by her selective taste, excellent sense of style and vibrant sexuality. A wedding bouquet will only emphasize the inner charisma of its owner, and she will be happy to catch admiring glances throughout the entire ceremony.

It is also worth noting that young girls should give preference to lighter, pastel colors, for example, white, pink, blue or light purple. While older ladies can afford bright, even extravagant options: scarlet, burgundy, orange or bright blue.

Subtleties of choice

When choosing elements of a floral arrangement, it is important to consider not only the matching of flowers, but also their color. Do you want a stylish monochrome bouquet? Experienced florists recommend not focusing only on white color, but using shades of milky, creamy and creamy.

A floral arrangement of delicate orchids in pastel shades and an exquisite snow-white rose will look original. But the combination of bright freesia and calm orchid will add color and create interesting accents.

Don't be afraid to experiment. After all, it is absolutely impossible to spoil the bride’s bouquet, the main element of which is an incredibly beautiful tropical flower.

Depending on the chosen color scheme, bouquets for brides come in the following types:

  • monochrome - a combination of several subtle shades;
  • contrasting - the use of diametrically opposite or sharply contrasting colors;
  • gradient - a smooth transition from a calm color to a more saturated one;
  • fantasy - a combination of different shades in one composition.

Girls who prefer orchids have qualities such as self-confidence, sophistication and femininity. A bouquet of orchids will emphasize the presence of a sense of taste, incredible inner charisma and sophistication of its owner. It is better for young girls to choose flowers in calm pastel shades that personify youth, tenderness and openness. Older brides can opt for brighter floral accents that convey sophistication and confidence.
